Default Fess up.....Who got weird gifts?

Who got *what the....?* gifts this year. Our weird one was from SIL. We specifically asked them not to buy/send anything. They sent us a website with stuff they thought was "cool"...we said no thanks. We asked them to donate to a charity instead. They sent *us* (dh and I) some melt and pour soaps with glitter and snowflakes (these are fine, really) and....a bright turquise twisty towel (the kind you wrap up your wet hair in?) Dh is almost balding on top, and I've had very short hair for nearly 10 years. Go figure.
I know it's the thought that counts...but where is the thought in this???

We can always count on my BIL and his SO for weird gifts. One year they gave me some giant bright green frog slippers and DH a "scalp stimulator" thingy. This year I got a sake set and a bottle of sake---I don't even drink. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. And he did give me a couple of very pretty scarves with it.

My step-mother gave me a hot dog and hot dog bun toaster, all in one. Honestly, what do they think the microwave is for. I'm ready for my dad to start buying my gifts for me again - at least the tools are useful.

A used bubble bath spa. That my mother-in-law first attempted to buy on ebay. And no one bought it. It has no manual. No batteries. And it was coverered in soap scum.

    A $40 gift card to....

    Subway...

I have TMJ. Subway bugs my jaw.

For the extended family, we draw names. The limit is $40, so the adults get a "decent" gift and we all don't go broke. The person who drew my name didn't even call to find out what I wanted. I told Grandma and my sister to pass on that I wanted cash so I could buy a bunch of books (like Miserly Moms and some other frugal books) for cheap off ebay.

Well, it all turned out well in the long run. DH was talking to his brother and told him about the Subway card. BIL offered to give me that cash for the card because he goes to Subway once a week. I get to order my books!! I am so happy.

I got a fiber optic snowman that requires batteries, dont get me wrong it was a thoughtful gift BUT I dont decorate that much and if and when I do this surely doesnt fit into my "style". Plus there's no batteries included so off it goes back in it's package till next year??? IDK I will think about it, lol

It isn't necessarily weird, but I received a rice cooker from my MIL. She lives with us and I swear this is something she knows I will NEVER use. I don't even cook rice that often and when I do, I just put it in a bowl and pop it in the microwave.

I absolutely despise having useless appliances in my house.

The wierdest one this year was, from my mom. Now I know I will use these but.... paperclips, binder clips, folders, sharpies, post it notes, bigger paper clips, bigger binder clips.

I am an organized person. But if you dont know what to get me, get small gift card to office supply store. LOL
