I don't have them very often, but when I do, I give the empties to my kids to play with. They like to put them in their wallets.

I would just caution to check the fine print on the cards. Sometimes they start deducting money if you don't use within a certain time.

I use every.last.cent on each one. Then, I throw it away....lol, after making sure it's 'empty'.

The Tightwad Gazette says that you can use them to scrap frost off your windshield. I've done that before and it works.

Well, this year my DS got a guitar for XMas, but no picks. So, we cut some out of a used up gift card.

I have also regifted, by loading them back up.

A couple ideas I haven't tried, but maybe.....

    1. Use them as "pot scrubbers".
    2. If you give homemade gift certificates, they make a nice template for the paper.
    3. Use as bookmarks (DS does this)

I'm sure they could be used for some crafty project. I just can't figure one out right now

I think they passed a law here in Canada that says gift cards can no longer have an experation date on them

They just passes a law ( in Calif anyways) that if you purchase something and the balance of the card is under $10.00 they have to give you the balance back in cash. I think its great because I used to carry around gift cards with small balances trying to use them up.

I use empty ones to scrape off baked on "crud" on my pots and pans, they work great.
