-- Please send good vibes today!!!
Hiya Everyone!
Please, please please send good vibes to my fiance today!
I am a nervous wreck. The Old Man has an interview today at 3pm. We -need- for him to get the job!
Rewind a bit... He worked as a paint specialist for 4 years at a company he wasn't all that happy with, but he made enough for us to get what we need and some extras (as long as we stayed frugal). After he trained the new manager (for the second time, meaning he was passed over as manager yet again) he applied at the Hilton doing some sort of desk work. It would have been better pay and only 40 hours a week as opposed to the 53 he was doing. The Hilton told him he had the job, had him fill out all the tax info and new hire pack and to go ahead and give his two-week notice to his other job.
He gave his notice, and two days before he was to start the Hilton, they called. The person he was going to be replacing decided to stay. He went to the VP of the company and basically begged to be able to stay on since they hadn't found a replacement for him yet. They agreed to let him stay on, part-time and at half the pay. In the meantime, I think he applied to every job available when on a fluke, he walked in to the restaurant he is working at now.
He met with the owner, who seemed impressed with him and offered him a job, 40 hours a week, and at the full-rate he was getting at the old job. He waited until he worked there a few days before he gave a final notice to the other job, working between the two. Not even a full month after he started the restaurant, the owner cut his hours down to 30... then slowly it dwindled down to 15 hours a week. The owner blames it on a slow-season, but the assistant manager confided that it was because the owner didn't want to have to pay in to health insurances, so he cut everyones hours down. That means we have been living off of 1/4 of what he was making at the original job.
In despiration, he put more applications in. Normally he doesn't come with DD, the ex and I on 'family date night' but he was with us when we went to another restaurant that had a notice posted with the website to apply for management. He went home and filled out the application. A week later, the district manager called to try to schedule an appointment. They played phone tag for well over 2 weeks. He finally left her a message telling her that he was very interested in the job and if it would make things easier, *I* know his schedule and can help reach a mutual time. Finally, she and I spoke and he was to meet with her on Friday at 3.
That morning as I watched him gather his 'dress clothes' and put them in a garment bag, I had a feeling something would go awry. At 10am, she called and needed to reschedule and wouldn't be in the office again until Wednesday (today). We had pretty much assumed she had hired someone by now, since it's been over 3 weeks since he applied.
She called this morning!!! She wants to meet with him today after work. Since no one used the car since Friday, his garment bag was still hanging in the backseat, which was lucky since he was on his way to work and we were at my ex's house when she called.
We need as much luck, positive thought, the works!!!!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Less than 2 hours from now he will be be having his interview. I'd be biting my nails... if I hadn't already gnawed them to the stubs this morning!
I will let you all know what happened as soon as I hear from him.
