    Default book gift cert

We got a $50 gift card for Barnes and Nobles for Xmas. Don't know what to get. Does anyone have any suggestions on books that you've read recently that were good. Or any good cookbooks?

Good cookbooks are always a great investment. Do you have many? Not sure what your cooking level is... good basic books that cover everything, like the Joy of Cooking (my all-time favorite) are worth their weight in gold.

You could browse the Barnes & Noble website for ideas of subjects that interest you. It's nice doing it this way before you visit the store, because then you can see the ratings on different books.

I love when I get bookstore gift cards! It's like a day out to me. I often look at books on frugal living and the economy. I also enjoy stories of people who have overcome great odds... a recent favorite is "The Glass Castle" by Jeanette Walls, which was suggested to me by a member of this board.

    Have fun!

I cashed in my $50.00 giftcrd to Books-A-Million last night.
I went armed with a list of my favorite authors and books in series that I was looking for. Hit the jackpot as several of the books I was looking for were on their after Christmas sale table.
I enjoy mysteries so there were 4 J.D. Robb (In Death Series) that i picked up 3 were hardbacks ( I never buy too expensive for $6.00 each.) Then Dana Staenow The next Kate Shugak. Tamar Myers "Hell Hath No Curry" Then off the Hoilday Sale table came the first 2 books for my Chritmas drawer for next years hoilday reading one was The Autobiography of Santa Claus for $2.50 the other wasThe Official Gude to Christmas in the South or, If you can't
fry it spraypaint it Gold for $1.50.
I spent 2 hours wandering the store and digging throught the discount tables. Pure heaven. And I still have .91 cents left on the card!!!lol

As for cookbook recommendations not knowing your skill level or food tastes its hard to say. I have over 1000 cookbooks so I never met one I didn't like.
So I recommend going and seeing whats there. Give yourself time to wander read and look. Check out the discount tables and gt rid of piles.
Enjoy yourself!!! I did! Then call the person who gave you the card and share with them all your treasures.

I also got a giftcard to Borders---thinking about picking up the book P.S. I Love You, and the new Julie Garwood book, Shadow Music.

I just got back from Barnes & Noble. Two of my boys received gift cards from their aunt and uncle for Christmas. They had a great time looking for books.
I found three gifts for next Christmas @ 50% off. It's a good time to get holiday themed books in the kids department.
I agree with the other posters, I would go to the cookbook section. I have a great book called Cheap & Easy.

My first thought was to get gifts for birthdays and a headstart on next Christmas. That's the frugalness in me. But I should really spend it on stuff we WANT. I really have a hard time buying stuff just for me (unless it's such a super bargain that I can't pass on it). So I'm going to look at their site with myself (oh and dh.. lol) in mind.
