Back & Better than EVER!
So, it's been almost a year since I logged on and SO much has happened. Here's the reader's digest version.
Dave and I did decide to get a divorce.
It was VERY amicable. (he and my boyfriend even got each other xmas gifts...Dave was more like my brother than my husband.)
He kept the cats.
Joined eharmony.
Met my BF.
Moved in with my BF.
Life is grand!
Anyhow, Dave and I had no property or anything so when we split...
I took on 24,000 bucks in CC debt.
He took on his car payment and his 64,000 in student loans.
However, he writes me a check every month to help with the cc bills even though he doesn't have to. It's a big help, for sure.
Anyway, now I live with my boyfriend and our 4 cats...in his gigantic house. It's 3500 sf, 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. We have it on the market right now, so I'm up to my eyeballs in home improvement projects to help it sell. It's way too big for us...the goal is to sell it and rent for a year while saving $$ for a down payment to build.
IF/WHEN the house sells, we'll be paying off my cc debt in full. At that point, we will be DEBT FREE!! (and I intend to keep it that way!) However, the housing market is sucky right now and so I'm working extra hard to pay my debt down.
My BF is new to frugality. I'm nursing him along slowly! He's never needed to be frugal so he never has been. Now he's seeing the value in $$ and cents so he's getting on board.
Wow...that was supposed to be the short version.
Anyway, I'm back!

Thanks so much, all!
We have been really blessed with a relatively pain-free divorce. Obviously, it was difficult but there wasn't all the anger that can accompany these things.
Now, if I could just get outta debt!!!

Glad you have returned. Sounds like you have had a lot going on. Good luck with selling the house and with getting the debt paid.
