Talking I've Made My Hair Donation - Have You?

I have finally lopped off all the frock atop my thick skulled head! And Ive donated it to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The hair person cut off my ponytail and it took her over a whole minute to do it - thats alotta hair! The pony tail length was 12.5" and then she cut another 2" to do the style that I wanted. Its very short. I love being so free w/o worrying about shedding excessively and leaving a trail behind me, getting it pulled, tangled and snarled or yanking myself back down into bed when trying to get up!

Im so proud to have been able to do this, I feel like I've made my contribution and it was worthy. Its been a long hard 2 years but now the hairs gone where it needs to go. Growing out hair is just as hard as training for the 60km breast cancer walk. I felt this was better then throwing money at the cause (though its the $$ that gets the reserach underway and not the hair donations).

Just thought I'd share - as I shake my head about letting the hair fly! What a way to start 2008 - no debt & no hair! Hahahaha.

Here's the website that I used to donate my hair and they've even offered to pay postage. (free postage valid in Canada only) All you have to do (if you qualify) is to grow out your hair, cut it to their specifications and mail it. How much more easier can they make it??? http://www.beautifullengths.ca/pdf/guide.pdf

Last time I got mine cut short I wanted to donate to Locks of Love, very similar to your organization, but it had some damage.

What a great feeling, both the donation and the new style.

I did that right before I started chemo. My ponytail was 17 inches long. Then the beautician shaved my head for me.
I'll probably donate again, but my hair is only 3 inches long.

What a great cause! Both my DH and DS donated their hair to Locks of Love last year. DS has almost enough for a second donation, but DH kept his short, much to my dismay.

I'm growing my hair out to donate it,too! I have a while before it will be long enough. Right now it is only a couple inches past my shoulders. =)

I have mine ready to mail but I keep forgetting the padded envelope for it. Need to get one when I go out Sat. I was thinking of growing mine out again to donate but I think I am keeping mine short for a few months.

Good for you. I can never let my hair get long. It looks pitiful long. At three inches below my ears I desperately need a haircut. Not enough to donate. My ponytail would be like two inches.

~That's awesome, Shorty! I've donated twice to Locks of Love and HAD planned to donate to Beautiful Lengths at Thanksgiving but I decided to wait until warm weather. My hair will be waist long then! I haven't had hair that long in 10 years. Can't wait for that short and breezy feeling again!~

I'm growing mine out for locks of love, too. I had planned on getting dreads, but my hair isn't really the right type (too straight and smooth) and I knew I could do something better with it. Right now it's about 6 inches below my shoulders, so I might be able to donate at the end of the year.
