In 1997 I was a bartender at a restaurant that did an average amount of business - nothing great, just average and I made pretty good money.

If I worked Friday night, Saturday night and 2-3 other shifts a week. I normally took home $700 - $800 a week in tips and tip share.

A girl I trained way back then (when she first turned 21) is now working here at a bar that does great business and she is pulling in around $75,000 a year - easily (I know because we do her taxes). For this area that is well above the median income. The median income for a female in this city is $32,000 a year.

Darn, I am in the wrong profession. I saw the show tonight and thought Jo did a great job with the kids. They were an obnoxious bunch of kiddos before she got there.

The other possibility is that they are slaves to credit! I'd be interested to see how much debt they have!

I want to say though, I've never seen a family on those shows who didn't seem to be living in a REALLY nice house. It does make you wonder what we're doing wrong. Of course, I don't see their bills.

the one where the kid said it was a dump?
imho, (i guess this is where i duck and cover) you know it really just came down to the parents getting hands in the parenting. two people working is great and split shift and all, but someone along the way is going to suffer.. when are they sleeping? while the kids are in school? anyway.. no more opinions here..
a good douse of soap in those mouths and turn off computer, shut down cells phones and take away what ever makes that little boy happy for a bit.. great attitude adjustments..without the tv and the supernanny..
