Default OMG .... EW EW EWWWWWW

Since i got pregnant i had noticed welts apearing on my body with no rhyme or reason, which of course i thought was weird as heck. So i started not going outside as much because i thought it was mosquito bites.

I had seen a few roaches around our house with in a few weeks of the nasty neighbors had moved in next door ( this was before we moved ) so of course i was grossed out when i saw this little bug in my bed, which i thought was a roach!! Which of course the idea of getting by a roach really grossed me out !!

Well since we moved and i was so sick and had a high temp these bugs have kicked into mondo gear i guess. I killed 7 of them, basically because i saw one and searched the bed as usual for more cause i am totally psycodicly mental about this by now.

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THESE LITTLE THINGS ARE... Bed Bugs!!!

It's the grossest thing i have ever ever thought of. Seems doesn't matter how nice and clean of a place you have they don't care as long as they have a crack in the matress or frame or carpet or anywhere to hide and a warm blooded source of blood. Even better how do you get rid of them... basically you don't!! WHAT!! According to the sites( i have been to trying to look for something to do to get rid of them) you have to call in a professional pest control help AND they will direct you to get rid of your matress, all your bedding, any clutter, your clothes, and any other sources that can be found like carpeting, walling, ect that can not be washed in degrees over 120.

YEAH RIGHT i can't afford that!!! But i can't have bugs in my bed Grrr.. i am pregnant so chemicals on the bed might not be a good idea.. so we went out and got vynal zippered bags for the matresses and pillows and i will be washing all the bedding in HOT HOT water to kill eggs or larva on those.. once it gets 90-100 degrees outside i will take the matress and all outside unzipper it wrap it all in black plastic and let it get up above 120 degrees out in the sun... any other ideas??

That really stinks! A friend of mine had them, and she was able to get rid of them. She called the one pest control company....and now, I can't remember who they were! ORKIN! That is who it was! I have no idea how they got rid of them for her, but they were able to do it.

She wasn't pregnant, but she did have a newborn then...I think her daughter was only about 6 weeks old. They stayed in a hotel for the weekend, just to be safe...but she was assured that the chemicals were safe to humans. You might try calling them if you have them around you!

Oh, NPR just did a show about them recently. So many people just gave up and got new mattresses, but I did hear that pest control companies can take care of it.

    Good luck!

You poor thing! I've read that they've made it to the US again from people who've traveled overseas. Good luck getting rid of them---sounds like you've gotten some really good advice from the others here.

Sorry for this yucky thing that's happening, I sure hope you get rid of them BUT if you RENT your landlord is responsible for getting rid of them, so something you might want to look into.

GG~ Thank you for all that info!!

Tell me about it .. i itch constantly and loose sleep because i am constantly thinking something is crawling on me.. * shivers *

If we asked the landlord to fix it it would be months worth of us asking/ demanding/ Fussing been there with a hot water heater and our Electric for a month was $300 instead of $90-120.. and here last month before we moved the heater went wonky we had been after him for over 2 months that it was making sounds.. last electric bill from the old place when it sounded the worst $188!! And pissing him off and getting kicked out for something stupid he can find isn't worth it at this time ( he holds grudges and we have seen him kick people out for odd things but not for the reason he states )

According to what i have read you can get them from people visiting your house that have them they can come in lugage, pillows people carry in, ect. If you pick up a freebie bed or used bed they can be in the frame, matress, or box springs already. If you stay in a hotel or someones home that has bed bugs you can get them and bring them to your home in your lugage or anywhere they can hide in cracks or crevices of items.

I don't know what they look like or how you would spot them. I am so sorry you have these though, and I hope you can get rid of them.

I know that when you are staying at a hotel, the way to check for them is to get a blow dryer and turn it on high and point it close to the mattress. Because they love warmth, the bed bugs will come to the surface. I suppose you could get them out that way. Another thing to look for when staying at a hotel is to check the seams of the mattress--if you see little black spots, that's a sign of bed bugs. I always use the blow dryer to check for them while on vacation. Good luck.
