County Medical Assistance Rant
A little background...a few yrs ago ds#1 came down with an intestinal problem that lasted a month. It finally went away & everything was fine for about a year. Then it started to occur every few months.
Well, this time when it came back,it was so bad that I was finally able to convinced my pig-headed son to go to the ER early this morning.
Backing up a little here-trying not to be too confusing.
All of this past year,I have tried & tried to at least get an appointment set up so my son could go & apply for some type of medical coverage from the county so he could see a dr. about this issue.Everytime that I would call,no one would answer the **** phone & they would let all of the calls go to voice mail. I had repeatedly left messages for them to get back with me to set up an appointment & NO ONE EVER RETURNED MY CALLS. GGGGRRRRR.
So, fastforward to this morning-
I talked with the financial case worker at the hospital & told her of our dilemma & she called down to the county office & got an appointment within 5 minutes! WTH??? She accomplished in 5 minutes what I couldn't in a year's time. & yes, I had called the correct number etc.
My son is 22 and we cannot have him covered under our insurance b/c he's not a student & he doesn't qualify for medicaid,so this is his only option if he is going to get further treatment.(I just want him to regain his health)
GGGGRRRR I hate government- run health care state or local.

Here in San Bernardino county,Ca you can go to the Er and pick up forms that go by your income called MIA. They don't cover eyes or dental. By the Dr's(theres) and all meds.
I hope your Ds starts to feel better
FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

I"m going through the bearucratic red tape with the health care system myself. So I really do feel your pain. It's the last thing you need to deal with when you aren't feeling well and it really is a scary eye opener when you see how hospitals are run and how very few employees seem to know what's going on. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I want to thank you all for your encouragement. It is very scary for me to watch ds go through this..& like I said- he's pig-headed(like his momma.lol). He put off going to see a dr. b/c of the cost. I tried to get him to go before, but there is only so much that you can do when your child is a 6'3 adult.
