Question?????
Many people talk about getting a 3 to 6 month supply of their medications
ahead.
How do you do this?
Our pharmacy won't leyt you have over 30 days .
If we do get into a resession or depression I want at least 6 months on hand.
Any advice would be so helpful

I think it depends on the medication. Your insurance will probably not pay for 6 months, but mine will pay for 3. You have to get your Dr. to write your script for 3 months supply. This may not be an option if it's a controlled substance. And...the problem with this is...what if you have a 3 months supply, and it's not quite ready for refill, and then you have the *emergency*. You still don't have any more meds than you would if it was a 30 day supply. I do a 3 month supply because my ins. allows it and it is only one co-pay.

I should add, pharmacy laws vary from state to state....if you have questions about your state guidlines, you can call your state pharmancy board.

Actually it is cheaper to buy a 3 months supply vs. monthly if you are on a co-payment insurance. I usually get 3 months and pay the same copay as I would if it were 30 day supply. check with your doctor and pharmacy and see if you are able to get the extended supply. Usually it is for maintence drugs. My husband goes to the VA and they actually send him a 6 month supply.

We get ours in 3 mos. supply through mail order and
it makes it so convent. We don't have to run to the
pharmacy as often.
I agree with the others talk with your dr. and if allowable
he can write scripts for the 3 month supply you want.
One more thing to check out as frugalites is to find
out if any of the drugs you are using come in generics.
This is a HUGE money saver.

only this week i put in an order for a 3 month supply (stupid insurance changed, and anything i have to take long term i either have to get it thru mail order or pay full price at the pharmacy.) of my asthma and ulcer meds. i couldn't believe it, 3 months supply of my ulcer meds was cheaper then what i was paying AFTER the insurance paid their portion for just a 1 month supply. so its def. worth talking to your dr. about.

Check with your insurance company also about what they consider a 3 month supply. My insurance company will pay for 100 days as a 3 month supply. DH gets his maintanance drugs as a 3 month supply.

Hahaha wow do I ever feel like a loser! I just realized what the 'maintenance' drugs you're all speaking of was!
I always get my meds in a 3 month supply unless its a new rx and Im trying to see how I react with it.
Where do you get your meds through the mail, how? This is a new concept to me - but maybe they dont do that here in Cananda?? Or maybe I've just never heard about it?2012: The Year Of The Purge!
