Keep those fingers crossed - Update
We need just a few more grains of luck dust please... I want to thank everyone who sat with fingers, toes and eyes crossed and sent some positive thoughts our way when the Old Man went for an interview.
He made it through round 2, they called today and want him to meet with the Regional Vice President this week. Old Man has Wed & Fri off this week (can't take any days off from work, taking an hour off means he lost the entire day because he works off-site).
The job doesn't pay as well as we hoped, as a matter of fact, it would be a cut in pay by .50 an hour... but instead of working 15 hours a week (oddly enough, he has 35 hours this week, but this is rare) the new job is 50 hours a week, with benefits (Insurance - 70/wk, Dental - 3/wk, Life & Disability - free)
He isn't sure he can do it... I know he can. I may not be able to be at the job with him, but I can teach him the basic accounting he will need, as well as help him with legals. He applied to be a Manager at PapaGinos (pizza chain) but the vacancy is in the D'Angelos (sub chain). In some ways it will be the same, scheduling hours and whatnot, but in a lot of ways it will be foreign to him because he's been a manager for pizza shops before.
I try to tell him that he will start as an Asst. Manager, and he will learn the specifics as he goes along. It's a 9 month training before you go from Asst to Manager. He would have more management skills for a resume and I can shove money away by acting as if he's still only working 15 hours and shove some serious money in the EF (which sits at... $40).
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
