blah- I blew my challange
I'm weak, I couldn't do it.

I blew my 6 month no spend. First I bought fabric for a new shower curtain. Then I wasn't supose to stop the car but I did. A yard sale.
Something caught my eye and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Turned the car around. And I bought it, and then it all went down the
I woman down the street is moving and I saw the most wonderfully primative black plate rack, the I saw an entire collection of antique wooden Kitchen tools. They were so cheap compaired to an antique store I just couldn't pass them up.
I guess I could always start over again tomarrow. I'm sorry I let you down.
So an entire 35.00 dollars later I am a failure. Not to mention I really shouldn't have spent anymoney becuase dh has to buy text books tomarrow.
I just cant be trusted with a nickel.

well... only sorta blew the challenge. You didnt buy a NEW shower curtain. which Im sure would cost a fortune for what you want, and are making with the fabric. And garage sales... think of the money you saved instead of getting new and or even antique store price. And, stretch it to think, the person holding the sale, you may have helped mother earth, becouse they could have tossed that stuff in the trash and jammed up the landfills. Yes, indeed, they exist, my sister is one of those people.
its not like you see primative items all the times either... must snatch them up while the gettings good.

Start fresh tomorrow :-)
and please don't start thinking that because you've blown it for today that you've blown it for the month and keep spending...that would be BAD! LOL!

Yep, just pick yourself up, dust off and start again. Its not a matter of never falling, its a matter of who gets up again and keeps going. Just start again and look on the bright side, by doing this challenge in the first place you have saved yourself a good chunk of money already. It's not the first mistake that kills you, its the decision to commit subsequent mistakes since all is blown. Just hop back on the wagon and keep going, you will reach your destination that way. I think you are doing great. Besides, you could have gone to an antique store or paid full price, I think you did quite well buying via a yard sale! ....and, it was only $35.

You can't just give up after one bump in the road. What you are trying to do is like being very overweight and out of shape and want to be an olympic athelete overnight! Maybe you should start with smaller goals and work your way up. You also have to drop some words from your vocabulary like failure, and saying you let us down. You hit a bump in the road and fell down, it's OK. I think the only way you can fail at something is to give up. So get back up, forgive yourself for the mistake and move on. The important part is to figure out why you fell off when you hit the bump and what can you do next time to make it over without falling.
Hang in there

Maybe shorter time periods are the answer? Go a week for the first no-spend, feel all proud of yourself when you succeed and then try a longer period.
Either that or a Seinfeldian chain might be the way to go:

Shortcake, you are absolutely right.
I was just being a dramaqueen for good reading. LOL I don't really feel like a failure. Well maybe just a little....
Leeza - Have no fear, I will be back on the horse tomarrow.I don't think one little slip should derail the entire train.
To everyone else- I intend to keep going the full 6 months , one week at a time. Thanks for the suport I just wanted to keep it honest.

Good for you AnnK, I can't wait to hear your next update. I think keeping it honest is the best way to do it. I know I was ashamed to put my debt in my signature but I figured I needed to be honest to myself about it. The fact that it's in my face everytime I log on makes me deal with it. I can't just push it back under the rug.

You've done a lot better than I have. I have no control over even a candy bar. It's sad to say it, but yes, candy bars control me.

AnnK, I still applaud you even though you slipped. I think you are doing great. No one is perfect, you know. Just take it one day at a time.
