Default I'm back and its official.....

DH & I spent the weekend at a Log Home Builders of America Association seminar.

Its this awesome association that teaches its members how to build their very own log home - from top to bottom - you don't need ANY building experience at all! I admit, I was skeptical at first, but after the two day course I'm ready to start building!

    Here is their website: www.loghomebuilders.org

Its a great way to get mortgage free in a short amount of time. DH and I are currently looking for land (we have a few leads in our area) and we hope to start building by the end of the year.

    Financial Freedom, here we come!!!!!!

DH & I are both planning on starting blogs for the building - kind of a "His & Her's" point of view!

I'll let you know when we get started! We're going to look at few pieces of property later this week.

    I'm so excited!!!!

OH I ENVY YOU!! Well, most of it anyway, I know that if we attempted something like this we'd KILL each other, lol, I'm the hurry up and get it done, hubster is the "hmmm, lets analyze this 700 different ways and then think about it" type.

I'd LOVE a log home, a nice SMALL simple one! A big great room, laundry/mud/bathroom and a magnificent loft bedroom. Sigh, girl can dream can't she?

I had a friend who did this. Her and her husband did it together (they also enlisted the help of their teenage kids on the weekends). He was an electrician...so he knew some about construction but not much.

They did it in a relatively short amount of time and their house is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Good luck to you! I can't wait to begin reading the blog!

How are property prices there? This is just not an option around here considering the price of land :-( I know your dh is a pilot, does he have much of a commute? My dh travels a lot and we can't be an hour from the city...we need to be near the airport (within reason)

Jamauk, as I mentioned before, hubby and I built a log home and did the work ourselves. We were about as inexperienced as they come, but it's still standing after 30 years! I am so proud of you for pursuing your dream.

Here's a pic of our log cabin dream, just to whet your dream a little more. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to hear of your adventure!
