Garlic Breath
Hehehee - I wonder how many of you clicked on this thread simply based on its title!

Seriously though - last night I had some pizza and I added garlic powder on top - a quick shake to add extra flavour. I didnt mind the garlic breath last night and even well after dinner into bedtime. But this am, I still taste garlic on my breath and lips every time I lick them!!
My question to you is: how do you get rid of it? After dinner, I flossed, brushed and Listerine'd I have done so this am and well - minty fresh with garlic in the background!
[I dont mind it but just wondering how to get rid of it? I have the same problems with onions....and if I'm still able to taste it several hours later - can someone smell it on my breath if I talk to them at work? HAHAHA - they probably think I eat garlic for breakfast - YUM!!!]2012: The Year Of The Purge!

Finally...a subject on MY area of expertise!! It could very well be that you are the only one who can smell it, and if you just use some sugarless mints no one else will notice. Try brushing your tongue too, to get some of the lingering garlic off.
Since it was only garlic POWDER, it's probably just on your taste buds and in your nose. It's the real stuff that sometimes just oozes out of your pores. Hope you have a good day!

Oh, I hate that....sometimes no matter what I do I can't get rid of it until it wears off.

I think that chewing on a sprig of fresh mint will help. Also, guzzle water.

This happens to my kids all the time! It drives me nuts too! If they eat anything with real garlic...they have this "funk" about them for 2 days! It is to the point where I have stopped cooking with real garlic and only use the powder now!

To get to the root of the problem, you have to treat the digestion area. I would recommend something like Breath Assure Tablets so it works from the inside out.

Thanks for the responses! The culprit was the
I did floss, brush and listerine after I ate and again before bed and twice this am
I drink in excess of 2L of water daily and then add in tea, coffee and drink sticks (sugar free of course)
I guess I do have to just wait it out. For some reason garlic powder always gets me. Real garlic doesnt linger as long or is as noticable to me? LOL Maybe you're right, its only ME who notices??
Breath Assure - what are those? Where can I find them (which section of which type of store) and are those sold in Canada? I use Dentyne Ice mints (sugar free) and WOW they pack a punch but still, once the mint is gone - Im back to garlic breath.
Funny thing is - I wont stop eating garlic, garlic powder and/or onions - I love em too much!2012: The Year Of The Purge!

I really enjoy garlic and onions also. Plus I eat them raw sometimes since I heard it was better for you that way. So now I can't help but wondering if I have a cloud around me. I do bathe and floss, mouthwash but boy do I hope I am not really bad to be around.

Breath Assure is sold in the U.S. I don't know if they are where you live. However, check a drug store or grocery store. You can buy it over the counter. They are in capsule form and you have to swallow them.

Parsley. Eat it and chew it thoroughly.

I have that problem with onions - on my hands, though. I swear I can smell onions for days after I chop onions. I know it's probably just me.
I tried those Breath Assure things a long time ago when I had a bad tooth that was giving me bad breath. I don't know if it was just me, but they made me burp - like constantly. Freaky.
They were minty burps, though!! Hee Hee!

Hehehe - I think my mints do that for me.
As for the parsley suggested from Edna E - I dont think there's enough parsley on the days I eat garlic and garlic powder LOL Maybe it will tame it? I think I tried this a while back but Im not sure how I felt about it nor how it worked.
Onion smell on hands - once done chopping onions - run the cold water ONLY and let it run real well so its ICY cold. Then put your hands under it and rinse well, pretend you are washing your hands but w/o the soap. Also while under the cold water, rub anything stainless steel in your hands - ladle, spatula etc over your hands....gets rid of the garlic/onion smells.

Yes, a sprig of fresh parsley should do the trick!
