Default Very unfrugal shopping today (ME ladies might know)

I am still having a hard time of it lately and I really wanted some comfort food. Badly. Back home in Maine they have red hot dogs. not red hot links...no. red natural casing hot dogs. Several companies, Rices, WABean, Jordans, and so on make these.

My grandpaw used to bring these home quite often for us (he worked there). So I ordered two pounds. With shipping and everything (everyone is going to think i am crazy) it came to 40.00. Yes, two pounds of hot dogs...40 bucks. They're so good though. They're worth it. Especially being a comfort food.

When you use em to put in mac and chz, they make the dinner pink. When you serve them in a roll (can't get the right kind here!!) they turn it pink too.

Man I miss those. Anyhow. It may be dumb, but Tomorrow I will be lunching on a special treat my grandpa used to bring me.

Gosh, I miss him. And my mom too. especially right now.

I think it's WELL worth it for the comfort it will bring you Enjoy them and smile, life is to short to NOT reminice and enjoy things like this.

I'd give just about anything for one more lemon meringue (SP?)pie from my grandma, or one of her oatmeal cookies.

That's what being frugal is all about, saving in one area so you have the money to enjoy the things that mean the most to you. Enjoy your comfort food, there are some things in life you just can't put a price on.

I know those hotdogs! My grandmother (also from Maine) used to make those! I say it's worth every penny, Missy. Enjoy them!

Well worth it. Life is nothing without those particular moments...and if they cost you a little bit, well...it's worth it.

I spent $63 to send my brother Portillo's Italian Beef for Christmas. He and his fiance moved from Chicago to Seattle and you can only get them in the Chicago area. His fiance was talking about how much she missed them, so I had some shipped to her for Christmas. Her response was worth the expense!

I think...sometimes, you just have to splurge a little.

I think it was a great deal. Hebrew National or Oscar Meyer could never compare to the memories of your home and family.

We have something similar here. I missed them so badly in Alabama... Pilgrim hot dogs. They are red, they turn the water pink when you cook them. Those and the red Glaziers...

Hope you enjoy your comfort food Missy
