Take her to her vet and get ear mite treatment, if that's what's needed. She could also have another type of ear infection. She should be going to the vet every 2-3 weeks until she's approx 4 months old - are you doing that?

If it's ear mites, you can try a drop of mineral oil in each ear, it will keep the mites from connecting to the tissue and they will starve. Good luck!

Shih Tzu's are also prone to yeast infections in their ears. It takes an ear wash solution and an ointment for the infection from the vet. Smell your dogs ears--if they smell "yeasty" that is the problem. I'm currently treating my little gremlin for this.
The wash is ChlorhexiDerm, ointment is Gentizol.
One "home remedy" is to flush ears with fleets enema. Recommended by vet techs.
Good Luck!!Robin

Try talking to a reputable pet supply store and see if they have ear wash and/or miticide available. They often do for cats, and it is MUCH less expensive than getting it from the vet - but you should KNOW that you've got a correct diagnosis first. If you have a strong magnifying glass, mites are actually tiny spiders.

My dog has had yeast infections in his ears...it required a vet trip and then you have to put some medicine in the ear. Just cleaning it out won't take the infection away if that's what it is. They are supposedly very uncomfortable for the animal, so the sooner you can get the pup to the vet, the better if that's what it is.

Do you know anyone who uses the prescription mouthrinse "Peridex"? It is chlorhexidine, and will work(even if it's just till you get to see the vet). My one cat gets mites, and I just bring some CHX home from work in a little bottle.
