    Unhappy Deja Vu

Grrr! Today, as I was driving back in from seeing a patient out of town, my little Mazda suddenly started overheating and the battery light came on. I was still about 25 miles from San Antonio, and I nursed it along a little country road until I reached IH10. Unfortunately, the symptoms my little car were exhibiting were all-too-familiar -- this is the same thing that happened to our Ford truck when we broke down this summer on the way back from the Grand Canyon. My DH met me at the truck stop I had nursed it to and we called a wrecker to tow it back to town. Sure enough, the pully that the water pump belt rides on had broken. It's going to cost $400 to fix. We're also going to get the valve cover gasket fixed because it's been leaking oil for a grand total of $550. Yuck! Once again, there goes part of our EF. DH did remind me that the last time we had this car in the shop was a year ago and we don't make car payments so having to fork out $500 this year for the car is better than monthly payments, but still...how frustrating! Oh well, thank goodness (once again) for the EF. Thanks for letting me vent.

Very true, a $500 a year repair bill is still cheaper than car payments. Hang in there!! And thank goodness for the emergency fund, yes!!!

So very true and thank goodness for EF.
    Good luck with the repair.

I know your pain, I just spent $200 on rear brakes for my lil beater car yesterday but its not coming out of my EF, its coming out of money that I was going to put in my EF.

every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
