    Arrow Please Help Me Choose!!!

    Hiya --

The Old Man (not usually one for surprises, would rather get what he knows I want than spend money on a guess) is heading out to Target today to get my birthday present. Technically my birthday isn't until the 29th, but I was talking about how I missed my dutch oven after reading a post on here the other day.

I found 2 that I like. I can only get one (he'd get both if I asked him to, but I am trying to save money and space by getting one that can do a lot.

Take a look at the 2 I have chosen and please tell me which one you would chose if you could only get one.

    TIA!!!

I need a dutch oven too. My favorite fry pan in the world is the old cast iron skillet that I got at a yard sale and scrubbed the rust off of.

My vote is get the dutch oven.

I vote for dutch oven too. It's taller and can hold more (various size meats)than the other. I make an onion braised beef roast [ame="http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66226"]Guest Chef: Darlene~One of our family's favorite meals - Frugal Village Forums[/ame] in mine that wouldn't fit in the fry pan.

I would pick the taller Dutch Oven. That's just my opinion though, based on which one I would find more useful for me. Maybe you could ask for one now and the other one at a different time.

I vote dutch oven. I think it would be more versatile but thats just me.

I'd vote for the dutch oven too. There's not much different in cost and it's substantially larger. Of course, in cast iron, that's also substantially heavier. If that's not an issue, I'd choose the larger one.

I'd go for the dutch oven, also, simply because of the bigger capacity. Whichever one you choose, enjoy!

I love cooking with my old cast iron and would love a dutch oven. My vote would be the 5 qt. Maybe a bit more versatile than the smaller 3 qt pan.

I'd probably go for the dutch oven too for the larger capacity, but I gotta tell you, I LOVE to have that big long handle on the frying pan to help out with the WEIGHT of the thing when you pick it up, especially when you're wearing oven mitts.

I vote for the dutch oven - that's the one I bought and I love it.

I made turkey chili in in yesterday. I was able to simmer it all day long without worrying about scorching or having things stick - it's already seasoned.

    Enjoy!
