Ya'll have got to see this on youtube. There are actually 3 videos. This guy is a little off the wall-but he's an absolute frugal genious! Go to Youtube(I had trouble posting the link), Type in How Cheap Am I? username is davidsfarm. When you view these videos, you might want to take notes -there is a wealth of ideas

He is definitely off the wall. The urinal is pretty gross to me, but he is actually pretty smart to come up with all these ways to get heat, water, hot water, free fuel for his vehicle... I like the stairway he made, his beach and the bathtub boats LOL. He rented out part of his farm to make the payments on the farm and makes 900 a month by turning his house into a duplex and renting the upstairs and this pays all his bills for the month. He got tons of free stuff garbage picking. I've never thought of leaving hot water from a bath in the tub until it got cold in order to utilize the heat from the water to heat the room. And someone posted just a few days ago about venting the dryer heat into the house... he does that! Was that his son towards the end of the third video?

I agree he is a little of the wall. Only flushing after 5 bms kinda grossed me out. The dead mice on the kitchen table was rather nasty too.

WHOA! Ok, that's pretty extreme! But definitely some great ideas!!

I hadn't thought of the bathwater thing, either! If we had an electric dryer I'd vent the heat inside...but we have gas...

I would love to have a wood stove! I really like the sound of a fire crackling.

The overall attitude he has towards saving money is a good one...definitely things to think on!

I believe he had said that he "flushes after 5 pees".lol...If it were 5 bm's, that would really be a gross out..
some yrs ago, there was a water shortage here & the city put restrictions on the water use. One lady I knew of came up w/ a motto for herself..."If its yellow, let it mellow...if its brown, flush it down". - yuck.

He lives in a basement, with all those contraptions for heat & hot water, and evens vents the moist dryer air inside... it probably stinks like mold, and his clothes probably do, too. Good thing he doesn't want a girlfriend!

Cheap doesn't have to equal dirty. I think he gives a bad name to frugal people.

I wonder if his tenant has watched these videos... she pays $900 per month to live upstairs from this guy?

Very interesting. The only thing I don't agree w/ was he called his dad a bad name because his dad kicked him out at 23. Why should a grown person have someone support them if they can support themselves?
