Smile Where Are You When You Are In The Village?

This may sound a little sappy or dorky, but when I log onto the Frugal Village, I imagine myself sitting down at a table with a bunch of friends and chatting over a cup of good coffee. Everyone is throwing in their stories and 2c worth, and the topic keeps developing and changing.

But actually I am sitting in my little office/library looking at a screen. This 14x10 room is lined with book cases floor to ceiling on two walls. I'm a bibliophile, and have thousands of books, but my favorite references are in this room.

One wall has a desk unit with a hutch, and that's where my laptop is. To the right, I have an open dictionary for quick referencing, plus the hutch contains my collection of dictionaries. (I LOVE collecting dictionaries of all kinds). I also have some little wooden boxes with stamps, address cards, etc. To my left is a little lamp and a divided tray for holding odds 'n ends like paper clips, white out, etc. I also have a ceramic pencil holder there. And I have post it notes plastered around. This unit also has my homemade paper and envelope holders that I made out of cardboard boxes that I sponge painted. And I have a box of Kleenex handy.

To the right of the desk unit I have a credenza made from a countertop and two small file cabinets. My printer/fax/copier is on that, along with my daily planner and a can of macadamia nuts (LOL). A waste can is under the credenza. I have a swivel office chair so that I can face my laptop on the desk unit, or swing around to work on the credenza.

The fourth wall has the door.

So when you read my posts, you can imagine me sitting here. How about you? While I like to imagine that you are at my table chatting and sipping coffee, I know that you keep a computer in a certain place, or perhaps you carry a wireless around with you. Where do you do your writing in Frugal Village?

If I am on the desktop I am in the back living room sitting at the desk.

If I am on my laptop I am normally in the front living room with the 'puter either on a tv tray or if I have it out, my craft table.

Sometimes I take my 'puter into my bedroom and put it on a tv tray next to my bed.

If I am on DD's laptop I am normally in the back living room on the couch with the 'puter on the coffee table.

If I am using the Wii as a 'puter then I am in my bedroom (since that is where we keep it).

I sit in the living room on my laptop. We have an office w/ 2 desktops but I prefer to be in the midst of everyone.

I type from the computer in the office, it has a window, 2 tall bookshelves, futon and tv. We spend most of our time in here together instead of the livingroom. It just feels really cozy in here and it has the internet and the tv.

I wish anyways... right now my computer is in the living room. My cherry wall-desk is next to the slider door.

I am actually giving up my desk and giving my computer to DD as soon as I reformat it and add her games to it (it will not be online). I can use the Old Man's pc, which is also in the living room.

I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

My computer is in our small den that is now an office. I'm wanting to redo this room with office furniture. The computer sits on a folding table that is 10' long. It's takes up so much room, plus it tends to get junked up.

Desktop puter in the living room with a cathedral ceiling above & a nice fire beside me, cat laying in front of it. Also in the room is the couch, coffee table, rocking chair, rocking chair with hassock, roll top desk , plant stand & TV. It's a big room filled with living. Oh. a piece of furniture to match the tv stand that holds the cd player etc. is also here.

I'm in my spare room sitting on a futon with my laptop, well, on my lap.

I still have not finished this room and it has now become sort of a catch-all. In my mind's eye, it is either a fabulous guest room, an exercise room, or a groovy lounge...I haven't decided yet!
