Cold Weather
Is anyone else tired of cold weather. Right now the temperature is -5. It has been bitterly cold for a couple weeks now, and I am ready for a warm up. I know that I live the midwest and should expect the cold, but this is too cold.
I am not looking forward to the gas, electric, or water bill.

We had a pipe freeze in our basement. Now have to keep the heat at least 64 at night or the basement gets too cold (it is 10-20 colder down there).
The pipe did not break, but we had a subsequent water leak. our landlord messed with the water connection in the kitchen and forgot to tighten it back up. The pipe unfroze and water started to leak under the sink. We did not notice it until 8 hours later and was 4 hours before the landlord figured out the problem. So know I have water damage under the sink and in the basement drywall.
All I can say it that even 30 degrees sounds nice right now.
Sorry that I went on rant and thank you for listening.Julie

Me, me! Can you see me raising my hand?? I'm tired of the cold. I don't ever like cold weather. But, I shouldn't complain because we are not as cold as you. It is supposed to be 19 in the morning. Burrrrrrrrrr.

Last night in my little town we set a record. It was -31. Even the woodstove can only heat the house so much

It's been pretty cold here but we haven't got much snow. I am actually envious of everyone who is getting snow and super cold weather. I love the cold and the snow so long as I don't have to go out in it!

I hate this cold, but I'm afraid we'll have much more like this before it gets any better.

Me too. Why do I live in the midwest? Freezing or boiling. It makes the electric bill stink (all electric house). I'm tired of sitting in two sweaters, wool socks and a blanket.

Ya'all don't say that!!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO!@!! IT IS GOING TO WARM UP SOON!!!
It's about 7am here and I've already run the dogs ,run water to some of the critters and frozen once. It's about 4 out there, if I'm lucky, and we get wind.
BUT, the horses are starting to shed, so spring IS coming!! And the days are getting LONGER DAY BY DAY!!!
I'm going to pick up garden seeds today and look into getting them started. Also going to talk to a friend with an incubator about starting some eggs, I LOVE having peeps around!

You could have my dh's aunt come operate that for you. With the woodstove she always keeps it around 90 in her house. When we go see her in the winter I have to take shorts and tshirt to be comfortable in her house.
I am also ready for spring, our winter weather has been weird, one week we have the ac on, then it cools down and we have the heat on. Though it has been cold the past 3 weeks and I am ready for a warm up.Challenges

We are 3 degrees here in Kentucky this morning. We have a 2 story house, the heat rises, therefore the upstairs stays pretty comfortable and warm, however, the downstairs is always very cold because of large picture windows down here. We are getting, today as a matter of fact, a space heater, to heat only the downstairs (where we spend most of our time anyways) so that I can turn the thermostat down even farther than what it is. If I did my math right, and I pray I did, to run the heater should still be more economical than turning up the thermostat. I dread seeing January's bill, maybe February won't be so bad after we get this space heater.

Well I am glad that I am not the only one, who is tired of winter. I used to love winter, but this year is just so cold. We also moved, so I now work out of my home. I realized yesterday, that I have been at home since Sunday. I need to get out more, but that also means spending more. If it wasn't 10 degrees and snowing I would go for a walk. Maybe it will be better this afternoon.

Well, I guess we're "warm" here at 30 degrees. Snow every morning this week (we usually get about 10 days of snow ALL WINTER), and my heater keeps coming on! I did extensive weather-proofing this weekend (I know - a little late...) and it's still cold in my house! That's the only thing I miss about my studio apt - the heating/cooling bills were still under $20/month.
I'd give anything for those April showers...
