It is -OMG here!!!
Since yesterday the mercury has been dropping. It is currently -30ºC, but with windchill colder than -41ºC (-40ºF=-40ºC).
It's been blowing snow as well.
ANd our schools AREN'T CLOSED.
Dh is home today so he's bringing the girls to school. DS is on city transport. I'm going to see if dh w ill drive him to the bus stop. But if ds isn't standing i"m not sure the bus will stop... catch 22.
It is FREEZING! I'm VERY happy we have a wood burning insert. It is sure helping out, the furnace can't keep up!!! Thinking of hang sleeping bags infront of the picture windows. To keep that room warmer.

oh my gosh...I could not even begin to image how cold that is. Here in Kentucky, if it is 20F outside, people think the world is freezing up!
Stay warm and don't go outside! I am not sure I would send my children out in the weather. Is that good for you to be out in the cold like that, even for just a few minutes?Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

We only have a forecast until Thursday, and it's cold the whole time. Only a couple degree variance. -30ºC isn't horrible if there's no wind, but the wind makes it very very cold.
No it's not good to be out in that, frostbit occurs very very quickly. I'll be letting families know that I'll be driving kids to school. ANd picking them up from the bus stop afterschool. It's BRUTALLY cold.

I remember it being that cold (-38 not factoring in windchill) for a few days one winter and waiting at the top of the long driveway with the kids for the bus. My car wouldn't start & we were bundled up. Busses had a hard time starting because the fuel didn't like the temps either. Never want to see it that cold again.
Warm thoughs sent your way~~~*Darlene*~

Darlene,
This is actually a yearly occurence..lol. I'm just feeling sorry for myself..lol. And in the summer we hit +35ºC and then I complain about thehit.
I live in an area of extreme temperatures. This will last a week or so, then it'll start to melt.
This is feeling like the NWT though..lol., I can't remember when the mercury dipped below -40ºC/F plus we have the windchill to add to that. If I'd have known the windchill was -56ºC today, NO ONE would have left this house!

Stay inside tomorrow, let the kiddies stay bundled in PJ's (Mommy too) and have cocoa
and watch movies. Call it "The Freezing Film Festival"! LOL
