Other than the smell, I say what the heck. If the people who died are,"Finally free", "suffering no more", "with the Lord", we should all be happy for them.We are all gonna go out that way , and I guess some people just have the need to start that way. Oh well. Pray for lots of flowers to mask the odor.

I'll stick with ours at a church.
I'm not into having my marriage started in a funeral home..

wouldn't be my first choice. But to me it doesn't really matter where you get married, the marriage itself is the important part. I would have married my husband in a cave if that's how it had to be.
funeral homes don't freak me out but I agree the smell might be a little yucky.Reba

Need to come up with a name besides funeral home. Here's an article about one business that branched out.

I don't see funeral homes as morbid places, but it still would not be my first (or second) choice for a wedding. Even most small towns have restaurants, community halls, or some other venue that would also be a viable choice.
One thought though: while you can schedule a wedding and reception in advance, you cannot schedule when a person passes on. What would the funeral home do with a 'double booking'? I would be unnerved if I was attending my loved one's viewing and there was a wedding going on a few rooms away. Seems disrepectful somehow.Jen

Darlene, your article is exactly what I am observing. I didn't know about the drop in funerals due to cremation, but it makes sense. Who would have thought?????

I drive by a funeral home all the time that now calls itself a "Funeral Chapel and Evening Event Center", and we always shake our heads and laugh about that. I have yet to see something going on there that appeared to not be a funeral, so I'm not sure it's catching on. Sure, it makes sense to get maximum use out of the building, but I still think it's just plain weird.
