Spinoff from 'thank you' thread
Last week there was a thread saying "Thank you' for this forum and about the great place that it is.
I posted about how I felt - that EVERYONE is so supportive here and that it is not always the same on other forums.
I am a member of another forum and haven't been posting there much at all recently mainly because of the nastiness that emerges every so often.
Well yesterday I was on the forum just having a read and yes once again I noticed that there once again a sort of 'prima donna' type of behaviour that was remarked upon with nastiness.
I came back on here just to read (and get some really good ideas as usual) and believe it or not but I got such a peaceful feeling.
Everyone tries so hard to be nice here that it makes actually quite teary when I think about it.
I see our forum as an example of how the world COULD be like if everyone could just show respect and support for each other.
I also posted last week about the telephone call that my daughter had and the outpouring of support and good wishes really helped me in such a horrible situation. (I am looking into self-defence classes for her and have told her to keep her hand on her hairspray in her bag - just in case.)
So - THANK YOU once again.

Grouphug!
Those self defense classes really help but you need to practice often so you react without needing to think about it. Martial arts classes are also a good thing, they cover it all there & you get so much more out of it. I went to a YMCA camp this past Fall and they had 2 women who were into martial arts(can't remember which kind) and they tought us some self defense moves. These ladies were wonderful and learned things I never thought of doing to protect myself. If any of the ladies here practice Martial Arts I'm sure they can tell you how wonderful this is for body & soul.~*Darlene*~

I remember reading the other post about your daughter. I hope everything is going okay with her. It's a scary world out there. Can you order her some pepper spray? My daughter just started driving, and we live in an urban town where crime is increasing. It's stressful.
I agree that since I've starting hanging out here, I rarely post on other forums. I visit sometimes, though, to listen to them bicker with each other

As a second degree black belt in American Kenpo, combined with Jeet Kune Do, Israeli Combatives, and Philippino stick/knife fighting - I 100% agree!!
To study the martial arts is to make a lifestyle choice that will improve your body and soul in ways you never imagined possible.

Wonderful, I always get a good feel when I visit here, too. I do hope nothing else comes of the phone call concerning your DD.
