    Default clothes size 24 months / 2T?

Does anyone know if there is a real difference between size 24 months and 2T. I have a bunch of 24 months clothes for dd (that I got on clearance of course) but she only has a few pieces of 2T clothing. If there is a difference, I would like to know now so I can take advantage of the clearance sales.

When I worked in a children's store we were told that the difference between the 24m and 2t is that the 2t is for a child that is a little taller/skinnier and the 24 month is for a child who is shorter/heavier. I never saw a big difference between them and I have 3 kids who were built differently.

I worked in the JCP kids dept. when I was in high school, and we were taught that 2T are longer in the length (shirts and pants). My dd is currently wearing both sizes, but I think I will get more use out of the 2T, especially when she is potty trained this summer. Without the bulk of a diaper, I expect her to be able to wear the pants next fall/winter.

With all that being said, I also want to mention that the brand name of the clothes also affects the sizing. My dd has some 24 month Carter's pants that are still huge on her (I'm hoping these will last 2 more winters). She also has some size 3T pants from Walmart that will be worn as capri's next fall. I also don't have much luck with using the weight chart. I have found it very helpful to take an item of her clothing that fits her pretty well with me when I go to shop. That way I just compare the clothes, regardless of size.

Happy shopping - hope you find some great deals.

That's a very good idea. Seriously, this is not a size that I would want to heavily stock up on. They don't grow at a very predictable rate at this point, she might not be in this size during the correct season, and depending on her body type she may never be in this size.

My daughter is 2, rather short and, what I would call, 'fluffy'. She went straight from size 24mos. to size 3. All the 2T does is give extra length - which I would just have to roll up anyway.

Dd is petite so I'll probably do better with the 24mos which we have a lot of. She still wears some 12 months, but shirts are usually 18 months. (she'll be 18 months this month) Some of her 18 months pants still don't fit - mostly jeans. I'm on the look out for pjs right now for the kids. When buying clearance for the kids in biggedr sizes, I try to buy stuff that can be used in more than 1 season: jeans / pants, tshirts, thinner long sleeve shirts. that way more of a chance they will be able to wear the clothes.
