Default Which would you rather have?

Just a weird querstion...which would you rather have in a hairstylist?

If you take a picture in and want that style, would you rather have a stylist that makes your hair look just like that, even if it doesn't flatter you at all, or would you rather have one that gives you a style that could be totally different but flatters you SO well?

I have been getting my hair cut at the walmart hairstyle place (only one stylist though, some other ones I wouldn't let touch my hair) and I usually find a picture, with no regard to my hair type, and take that in. She always takes elements that I wanted from that hairstyle, and gives me a haircut that could look totally different but it always looks SO great on me. And for $13 and some change for a shampoo, condition, haircut, blowdry and style? Who can argue!

I see really cute styles that I would love to try but I am too chicken. I have gone to the same person that does my hair for many years and she is really good about seeing what I say I want and knowing what would look better on me!!

i would much rather have the stylist make some changes so that i look good. you know, if you walk out of their store and you don't look good, that's a reflection on them. so why would they do something that wouldn't flatter your looks?

with me in the summer time i usually get my hair cut to about chin length. b4 i got my haircut on my birthday last summer my hair was a little below my shoulders and now after the cut its right at my shoulders. i usually tell the stylist that i want my hair cut chin length and let them do whatever they want.

I'd like one that will be honest enough to tell me that my choice would not be flattering, and then discuss suggestions before cutting. I've had stylists do too many odd things to me because they didn't listen to me, and when I say I wash my hair in the shower, get out and rub it with a towel, get dressed and go to work running my fingers through it on the way - I MEAN it! A style that "only" takes 10 minutes with a hairdryer and a brush and a couple of products will NOT make me happy!

I have brought in pics that were not possible due to the nature of my hair (thick but fine) and had my stylist tell me it just isn't possible. I have to respect the honesty there. Gives me more confidence in their knowledge.

I'd appreciate the honesty but I prefer them to cut it the way I want it. If she'd tell me your hair won't do this or this cut won't be flattering I'd probably reconsider but I want done what I want done, dang it. Oh, can you tell I sometimes get frustrated with my stylist? Sorry.

I'm with PrairieRose. As much as I don't mind them saying'your hair is a bit thin/fine for that style", --or--"I think that will make your face look fat." (LOL), I wouldrather they just cut it, and let me be able to blame ME when it doesn't look good.

There are as many 'thoughts' on what looks good on you ---as there are people. If some younger gal with a blue mohawk says 'let me try this on you.', I'm going to run. :surprise:

I like a stylist who will cut how they think it will look good.

I've gone to people that thought they knew how to make me look good that did a really bad job. After that I pick a picture and go from there. Nothing worse than waiting for your hair to grow out after an ego-maniac has cut your hair.
