    Default adult basic insurance

Does anyone have adult basic insuance through Highmark/blue Cross? To get insurance through dh's job for me it's 500 dollars a month, may as well not bring home a paycheck. So I looked into adult basic and was put on a waiting list. That was 2 years ago. I finally got a a letter saying I could enroll but now there doesn't seem to be a prescription plan with it. It covers basic office calls--$5.00, E.R=10.00 and some tests. They want $67. for two months and then $30.00 monthly with no grace period. If the mail gets it to them late too bad. My question is this. Wouldn't it be smarter to just get my scripts and go to the dr. once a year, which would be $50.00 and heaven forbid I end up in the hospital, pay the equivilant of the payment to the hospital towards the bill? We don't qualify fo any other low income medical. Dh makes $50.00 too much to get anything. Oh one more thing, even though I'm paying monthly I can't use it til July when the enrollment starts. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there!

You know I got the same letter in the mail and my monthly payment would be $35. Dr. Visit co-pay is $5, Specialy is $10 and ER is $25 but I dont go to the Dr. that often so I figured I wasnt going to go for it and save a ton of money in the long run.

She also said the perscriptions are discounted but didnt say by how much.

It doesnt even cover dental or vision either and that's not even an add-on option.

Hi. The letter I got didn't even mention prescriptions at all. I wonder if they go by income for different monthly payment amounts or plan options. the wa I understood it when I talked to the customer service person, there was prescription coverage and everyone monthly premium was the same. And then we get these letters stating otherwise. Something doesn't sound right somewhere but I agree with you. I'll just use the money I save if I need to pay the hospital.
