I got out of practice, and now I'm scared...
My dh has been working in town for the last couple of months, and I've gotten used to him being home at night. Well, now he is gone, and I'm kind of scared, and it's not even night time yet!!!!

hey julie, my hubby left this AM too. He'll be gone till Friday. I get a bit freaked out at night time too. I don't really mind him being gone, but I never sleep well!

That's why we got a burglar alarm installed. DH drives limos on the weekends, and doesn't get home until 3-4 in the morning. I can set the alarm so the windows and doors are armed, but we can walk around. Helps me sleep and not be afraid at night. It's expensive, but well worth our peace of mind. Also with the teens here alone early in the a.m., I can set the alarm to go to work while they are sleeping.

Hubby has almost always worked the midnight shift here. I have only been scared a couple of times. Mostly because of stomy weather. Once or twice I have heard a noise. But I agree with the big dog theory! We have a big (although not mean) black lab. She barks a lot, so I feel safe with her. Best of luck and hang in there.

Lock the doors, pull the shades and check them all once. Find your favorite show, curl up with dd and the phone next to you & just relax and enjoy your evening. Tuck her in, grab a book and the phone & go to bed to read. You've done everything to make your home safe & wonderful, sweet dreams.

I'll be thinking of you. I did this for a number of years. Hopefully it won't last forever. In the mean time read yourself to sleep....

It's just me and Wesley here, has been since June. Zac is in Iraq.
I keep the doors locked, but I don't worry and I'm not scared without him, just lonely. I've been trained in self-defense and also have a multitude of weapons so I feel secure in my little fortress.McD
