OMG -- I have an interview!!
I'm scared out of my mind!!!
I know I had posted a few days ago about a job Monday through Thursday 2-8 and how much I was struggling with taking the job and missing out on time with DD...
Well, Friday, I was on my way to the school, thinking about how maybe Mom was right, that I can do better than $9/hr at a job I didn't really want with aweful hours...and my cell rang...
I thought it was the Old Man...
I was shocked and a bit thrown for a loop when a man named James offered me a job!!! He had seen my resume on Monster.com. I didn't know I had made it public (I applied for a job at the Red Cross and submitted one there), apparently he saw it and was quite impressed with my experience.
He sent me an email over the weekend asking for a copy of my resume and 2-3 references and wanted to set up an appointment. I called him today at 9:25 (it's 9:37 now) and he wants me to come in at 11 to fill out a package, take the skills exam and get signed off on HIPPA compliance.
I am not holding my breath, but when I was on the phone with him on Friday, I had said in a non-challant type of voice ...
me -"Before we set time aside for an interview, what is the payrate" ...
him- $13-$16 an hour, with $1 differential for nights and weekends, and if you work weekends, I have no problem giving you $17 an hour... is that something you are interested in?
me - (holding back excitement) If the hours are what I am looking for, I can accept that rate.
I am hoping he doesn't pull the bait and switch with me as many nursing agencies have been known to do... include the higher and pay the lower.
Wish me luck!!! I can work a shift while DD is in school, weekends when she isn't here, and if the pay is doable, I may sneak in an overnight here or there if she doesn't have school the next day.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

UPDATE
Thank you... Thank you...I went to the interview... he said he can start me this weekend as long as I can get a copy of my certificate (which may or may not be a problem) and a TB test.
I don't know if I want to take it. I know... picky picky... but I have, what I think are valid reasons.
The pay varies from case to case, some pay 13, some pay 17...
It's 100% institutional care. If I wanted to work in a hospital or nursing home, I could apply directly to one. I can't go to work for another agency of facility because I would have to sign an exclusive contract and any place that wanted to employee me would have to 'buy' me.
The locations of the institutions (that I don't want to be in
) are not close to me, when I asked about mileage reimbursement... he said maybe, if I travel more than 50 miles from my home.
I inquired more about the locations... Boston, Boston Area, Western Mass... there was two locations close to me, the others require one heck of a hike and a sore bottom from sitting in traffic.
The shifts are 7-3, 3-11 and 11-7a. That means I can't work during the week because we have one car and DD and Old Man would have no way to getting to school/work. I can't work 3-11 because of the same reasons in reverse. 11-7 may be possible but I need to be at my home by 7:30am to bring DD to school. With the locations he listed, I wouldn't make it in time.
Again, I could work weekends.
I think I am still going to be passing around my resume. I am hoping the Red Cross contacts me.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Well, if nothing else, I always feel like an interview better prepares me and makes me really focus on what I want. Sounds like you don't really want this and given the travel, etc. I wouldn't, either.
