How cool is this?

After reading the thread about our fantasies about our lives when we grow up I went and got the mail, along with our weekly paper, the front page had an article about a professional skate boarder from the area that is touring and teaching kids to stay away from drugs and alcohol, his program is called Skate Straight. The more I read the more I thought, "nawww, it can't be, no way" So I did a bit of research. This guy is AWESOME, he's followed his dream, listened to a different drummer, drove his parents crazy but made his way, and, lolol. I used to baby sit for him!

LOL, ummmm or could be he got the wild streak that one of each family got in that neighborhood (I'm one also). His parents were SOOOOOO upper class anti skating, they threw a lot of obstacles in his way but he perservered in his ambitions. His brother is what mom and dad wanted, another Dr.

Doug has just turned out to be such a NEAT person, I'm SO glad he did chase his dream. And his message to kids is SO positive.

That is so cool! I love when there are positive role models for our kids that work in a way that the kids will think its awesome.

Good for him for sticking it out, and making his dream come true!! And what an awesome role model for kids, when most professional athletes are only concerned about one thing....themselves!!
