I need gift ideas...
My sisters b-day is coming up and with my car in the shop, I really can't afford a gift... any ideas what I can give her? I can't give her jams since I just gave her a ton for christmas and she's stocked. I don't sew, knit or anything like that. I do bake/cook but I would have to be able to use what I have on hand. I just can't think of anything. anyone have any ideas???

Make her up a coupon book. Good for baked goods, pedicure, whatever you think she'd like and also things you know she doesn't like to do like clean the tub, wash the floor....
Who wouldn't want a gift like that?

How about a platter of cupcakes:
Cake mix
Frosting/or stuff to make
paper cups
colored sugars/sprinkles
Make them and frost and decorate with everything you have on hand. If you need to step it up you could always put some fake flowers in the middle of the platter : )

Not sure what you have on hand. . . so I'll toss out some ideas of things I've done in the past.
Fleece scarves -- just take a few inches of fleece material (I like to make mine 6-7 inches wide) and the length of the fleece width (usually 60 inches). Fringe the ends by cutting 1 inch by 7 inch strips on each end.
My FIL was diabetic. I gave him a coupon book good for 2 diabetic desserts each month. For the next year's gift I gave him a recipe book, that featured all the recipes I'd done, complete with pictures I'd taken of them.
Photo calendars are good- and can be made on your computer and printed at home.
I've printed photo's on transparencies, then put the pictures in clear frames with tea lights behind them. They look like stained glass.
Soup mixes or other mixes in a jar (I use 20 oz soda bottles).

I'm making sugar cookie heart bouquets
but you could always use flowers stars etc with #1 sister on some. Sisters
are Forever. Sister's are Best friends etc.
Make her favorite meal and deliver it.
Hope that helps.

Remember, someone elses cooking ALWAYS tastes better..so what ever you have will be great! Fix supper, have your table looking pretty, bake a cake, light the candles and sing "Happy Birthday". A simple but useful gift- give 4/5 of your favorite recipes written on cards and tie with a ribbon bow. Most of all .... nothing is better than the love of your sister. Have a wonderful day. Life is good.

I love the idea of the coupon book for baked goods. Can you imagine getting a different dessert once a month for a whole year?!?
I'll cast my vote for that and my BD is in Oct. LOLThe Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

I was going to say a childhood picture of the two of you, but its been mentioned... would love this one! How about a photo album? I got my sister one for Christmas with a few pictures of her/our family (birthdays, Christmas snapshots). I included a note that I would continue to go through my pictures & get reprints for her album. Just gave her a few the other week. Its a neat surprise for her when I get reprints made & helps me not spend a lot of time & money at once. Also LOVE the birthday cake/cupcake idea too!

I'm sure she will love whatever you decided to give her since you're putting so much thought into it!

Thank you everyone for the ideas!!! I decided to give her a loaf of homemade bread and a coupon book. The book will have 3 major couposn. One for a house cleaning, one for a girls night (includes manicures/pedicures, movie, her favorite dinner and munchies all supplied by me)
The third is for a morning of sleeping in. I will stay overnight or get up and go there early so she can sleep in OR I can watch her son (she rarely goes out) just so she can get things done that she says she never has time to do (things like laundry which I'm banned from since I tend to shrink things ) THanks for all the help!
