KY gal looking for a community of fellow greens
Greetings - I have to say this is great forum, since I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur! (Forums and BBs are sort of a hobby of mine...)
I'm 34, happily married for 8 years (Feb 25) to the man who's been my partner for 14. I'm addicted to books - I have more of them than I do of anything else!!! When cleaning out and paring down, the one thing I can never get rid of are my books. It's so bad! - I"ve got six large bookcases filled to bursting, about 20 boxes in a closet, and several big stacks on the floor. And I actually read them, too!
Apart from that, my main interest is eastern philosophy. I guess I'm mostly a Buddhist, but I also study Advaita Vedanta and Taoism. I've done yoga and now am studying tai chi (the fact that I have a tai chi master in my family has influenced that!). I was a vegetarian for over 10 years, but now I eat a little meat a couple times a month. Meatless is still my usual habit, but I've given up being super strict about it.
Hubby and I are managing to live pretty green and frugal, but there is plenty of room for us to improve. We recycle everything we can, compost, donate unwanted items or find homes for them through Craig's list or some other way, and we buy most of our clothes at thrift shops. We use canvas bags for groceries, and try to buy as many locally produced items as we can through our local co-op.
I have some chronic health issues and about nine months ago I returned to work part-time following a major remission of my condition. Previously, I had been unable to work consistently or do anything much for about 8 years. I've also been able to get out and hike/camp/canoe again as well as do some traveling. I'm off to China this fall.
So, basically, that's me. Looking forward to getting to know you all!
peace,
Courtney

Courtney!
" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
