Well, hubby lost his job
Remember a few weeks back I mentioned that the parent co. that owned Ryan's filed chapter 11, well Joe's store was one of about 50 that got shut down so far. He went to work Monday as usual, the district manager showed up and the truck/food order didn't....lol
The managers were told Monday, but were asked not to tell the employees because they knew if they found out, some would leave, others wouldn't show up for the night shift and noone would come in on Tuesday, which was when the big wigs from Minn. were going to be there to cut checks for that week and an extra one for lost wages. If they didn't show up for the meeting they wouldn't be eligiable for their severance package.
It killed Joe to have to tell everyone. That store would have been there 20 years next month and there was one lady that had been there since it opened in March of 88.
Joe said he isn't going to let it get to him. I mean he had been with the co. 6 years so he got a 7 weeks severance pay (one automatic week, plus one for every year the manager was employed). So its kind of like he still has a job for a month and a half.
I bumped Paige to part time daycare. Joe will keep her 3 day's and she will go to school 2 day's. That way she still gets to play with other kids and Joe can spend those day's riding his bike or job hunting. He is going to take it easy the first 2 weeks. He's applied for a few things on line already and the Regional Manager for Golden Corral has already been in touch with him as soon as the news of the chapter 11 hit the news in Jan., but for now he wants to try to get out of Resturants.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. Losing a job is so hard, I mean besides the financial part of it, there's the relationship part of it....all the co-workers, the routine, all of it. If he's wanted to get out of restaurants though, maybe this is a blessing in disguise, it could be something FAR better is right on his horizon!

I am sorry to hear of Joe's job loss. I am sure he will find something soon. We went through something similar four years ago.

I'm sorry to hear it. My husband lost his job his week too. Today is his last day, however, we kind of saw it coming, so we were somewhat prepared for it.
Maybe he will come out with a job he enjoys even more! You just never know!

So sorry this happened to your family. Job losses can be very frightening. It does sound like your very well prepared and the extra 6 weeks pay will help you stay on top of expenses. Hope he finds work soon.
