Is it just me? I don't get it.
I have 1 daughter - she is 17 - she is the youngest.
Above her are 4 boys.
I have watched DVD's/movies with her for years.
I have sat through everything and (in all fairness) quite enjoyed it all.
Lizzie McQuire, Mean Girls, Dram Queen, Lizzie McQuire Movie - all the 'girly' movies - I have seen them all.
Yesterday I rented a movie for her - she has been sick all this week and boredom has set in.
I got - at her request - High School Musical 2.
I don't like it - I don't get it.
What does she see in this?
Is it just me????*Avril*

Its just a movie about kids being kids in school only set to music.
Thats my take anyhow.
No different than Grease or Grease 2
That I liked

Yeah...I don't get it either. Well, neither does my 15 year old daughter. Something seems to stick with the kids and then it goes hog wild with everyone! I wonder if it's just a follow the leader type of interest. Kids tend to do that.

Nope, you're not alone. My girls just thought it was funny, but they are older and were not crazed about it as some of the younger teens seem to be.

I've never seen the movie but that is all the young teens talk about around here. I think sometimes they just go along with the crowd whether they really like it or not. No one wants to be left out.

I quite enjoyed both. It's a very simple story line. The 2 main characters are "under dogs" in beating out the spoiled rich kids for the leads in the musicals. Beat them at their own game so to speak. It's a cute movie. My girls enjoy it too. They love teh sound track as well.

I've caught bits and pieces of it and what I think is great is that it's wholesome.

My 8 yr loved it! I watched it with her, it was OK...
But, boy oh boy, I do remember being gaga over John Travolta in Grease and having the posters in my room!
HSM is much more wholesome..Grease dealt with a pregancy scare, making out, being a virgin etc......
But I totally don't understand the craze.....the music is kinda of catchy..."We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

I couldn't stand it either!!! I sat down to watch it with my DH so that we could see what all the fuss was about. He actually liked it (age 29), but I went in the other room to do something else. I think we'll stick to Hannah Montana ( we both watch this one)!

I don't know much about it(except that you can't go into a store here without seeing HSM and Hannah Montana)...but I do remember the days when I would have gone to see Bobby Sherman or David Cassidy if they'd made a movie, and just swooned and thought it was Oscar-worthy

I was flipping through the channels a few nights ago and caught it on. I actually liked it. The music was catchy and the story line was tolerable.
My all time favorite movie is Grease so I am not surprised that I like HSM.
Now I have a 12 year old boy and 14 year old girl. They both think it is the most ridiculous thing they have ever seen. Both said they probably would have liked it when they were 6 or 7, but not at their ages now. None of their friends like it either. They all say it is for little kids.
Go figure.

Ok, I love High School Musical and I really liked the second one. The music's good and it's pretty clean by today's standards.
