Default Woo-Hoo! Got a free bread machine!

I just scored a free bread machine from FreeCycle! I went and picked it up this morning, it was un-used and still in the box!!! I don't know anything about the brand...it is a Toastmaster Bread Box model #1186.

I've got a loaf in it right now and so far it seems to be working fine. If anyone has advice or tips about bread machines I'm all ears.

    Score!
I'm looking for the same deal! Pretty soon people will start having yard sales here again and I'm planning on getting one.
    Have fun!

I have a Sunbeam bread maker. It can make 2# loaves. I use the recipes that came with it. Follow the directions and you should be A-ok. Only trouble I have...I like to open the lid and smell the yeast! Enjoy!

Great find! Now you can make all the bread you want and it's great to make in the winter time. The smell goes all through the house.

    Pizza dough recipe:

1 cup water, heated for 1 min in the microwave

    2 tbsp oil

    1 tsp salt

3 cups flour (can use all-purpose or whole wheat, both or a mixture work fine)

2 tsp yeast (or a packet, but this is a frugal site, we would always buy it not in the packets, right?)

Throw it in your bread machine in that order (water, oil, salt, flour, yeast). Run your machine through a dough cycle or stop it before it starts baking.

When the dough is made, oil your hands and the pan (make sure you get the creases too). Pat the dough out into your pizza pan (jelly roll pans work great too).

I always bake the crust, 400F for 7 min, and then add the toppings and bake again for 7 min.

    Side notes:

You can use less yeast (try 1 1/2 tsp) if you are using all-purpose flour.

This make one huge pizza or two smaller ones.

I cook the meat toppings before I put them on the pizzas. I am always afraid that they aren't going to get cooked enough if I don't.

Great find. I love mine and use the recipes that came with the machine as well. However, I love to alter the French Bread recipe and add 1/8th c of Grated Parmesan and 1 Tbs of crushed garlic to the mix. Yum!

    Have fun!

Zakity thanks so much for the pizza dough recipe! DH and I will definately being making that on his off-day!!

Well, yesterday's loaf was sheer perfection. We ate 1/2 of it yesterday warm with butter and reheated the rest for breakfast this morning. DH put a loaf in this morning when he got home from work. (Right now we're just using Krusteaz packaged mix, which actually costs less per box than the premade bread we usually buy.)

Next grocery trip I'll buy bread flour and yeast and start experimenting.
