Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead!
Well, not dead, but moving out!!!!! And taking her reptiles with her!
Six months ago, my son's girlfriend moved in with us. Her father just went to prison (embezzling) and her mother is .... how to describe the mother. useless, spoiled, never worked a day in her life fat@$$ is the nicest thing I can say about her.
Anyway, since gf is only 19, she certainly couldn't make her parents' (very large, very expensive) house payments by herself, so I decided to be nice and let her stay with us, thinking it would be temporary until she and DS could get their own apartment.
What I didn't know was, she would be bringing her SNAKE with her. A LARGE python, who scares the holy CRAP out of me!!
Come to find out, this girl is almost as useless as her mother, and is rude and antisocial on top of it. On Christmas, the whole family bought her gifts, trying to make her feel welcome into our family - what did she do?? Took the gifts back to their bedroom and opened them by herself. And didn't attend our family Christmas dinner. I don't think she spoke to me more than 5 times the whole time she's lived with us, and won't even acknowledge my younger kids when they speak to her.
She works only part time at a video store, but spends her money on expensive clothes, video games and movies constantly. I didn't require her to pay any rent, since I thought it was only temporary and THOUGHT she was saving up for an apartment.
Then she went out and bought ANOTHER SNAKE. A very expensive albino something or other.
So I have TWO snakes in my house. And did I mention they are snakes? And they are IN MY HOUSE?????
Well, he told me last night she is moving in with her married sister next week, cuz they are breaking up, as she has gotten all weird and clingy and jealous for no reason.
I danced all around the living room! (well, when he wasn't around). I will be so glad not to have to pay for utilities and food for ANOTHER person. Especially the WATER BILL, the girl showers as much as a whole football team after the big game.
So she's going - and she's taking the reptiles with her!!!!!! YAY ME!

She NEVER would have crossed the threshold with that SNAKE here!!!! Can't even stand seeing a picture of them.
Good to hear your son may have seen the light.

I'm glad your "guests" are leaving!

Oh my. Sorry to hear that she may be following the path she was raised in. Hope she matures enough to stand on her own and support herself and her snakes.

I'm glad for you but sorry for her. She had a terrible example set for her by her parents. Too bad she didn't open herself up to you so she could learn from your example. Sounds like she may never learn. At least your 2 snakes and 1 "leach" free.

She wouldn't have stayed one night with that snake.
No way!" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. Awwwww, snakes are cute and quite social... unlike their owner apparently

It's one thing to have to take a snake with you to a temporary housing situation, it's something else entirely to go and get MORE while you are still there... She didn't sound like a very good person to have around your other kids either.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Oh my goodness! I can't imagine living with snakes in the house. Sounds like you tried so hard to make her welcome. I can see why you were dancing around the house. It will be so nice to have your home back to normal.

That is like a textbook case on why to have formal lease agreements with anyone staying in your house - not that I am good about following that rule. If you'd had her pay rent, and clarified that no pets could be brought in and what you expected of her as far as helping and behavior, she probably would never have tried moving in with you in the first place (I'd consider that a win for you!)

I would have had her board her snakes at the vets or wherever people board snakes before she moved in.
But concerning her habits and lifestyle... sounds like she has many similairities of her mother and the fruit in this case didn't fall far from the tree.
Be careful of doing things liek this to help people, it could backfire and you could end up in a big legal mess.
If you do ... do anything like this again, it would be a good idea to write out a contract of "expectations" and standards to be kept while someone is in your house... and a time frame with a end date.
but...
glad your glad she has found another place to live with her snakes.
snakes.. ugh.
be sure they didnt lay eggs and baby snakes will be swarming in a nest under your beds..........

I think if I were you, I would have to throw a little party. I don't know how you put up with that. There would be no way I would ever have had snakes in my house.
