OMG....Postage is getting rediculous

Okay, I know everything is going up but I was still shocked when I went to the post office and tried to send my niece's birthday gift. I used to send things Priority because it was so cheap and it was gauranteed to get there in 2 - 3 days. I haven't sent anything since Christmas. They told me it was going to be $35 dollars to send a dollbaby to CA from VA!!!! What?!!!! I was stunned. I asked why it cost so much and was told that the prices went up dramatically on Jan 1, 2008 and they are getting ready to rise again. I opted to go the cheapest route which cost me $10 and will take 7 - 10 days to get there. I left the post office thinking that as much as I hate to send gift cards to my young niece's and nephew's (I really like to shop for them) I guess from now on I really don't have a choice. I am so disappointed. I love to pick out the perfect gift for the little ones but I can't justify spending that much for postage. And I can't stand to shop the internet. Why must everything be so expensive? Thanks for letting me rant. Sometimes I just need to vent a little!!!!

Try "Flat Rate" Boxes.....there are 2 sizes and you can put as much weight into them as you want and as of my last mailing they are $9.60 and they go "Priority" only.

Yeah, my hobby is penpaling... Just the last 2 years of it I've REALLY watched it cost more and more... Seems so high...

When I went to New England to visit my mom last month I picked up a lot of rock samples to send home (I'm a geologist). I fit 27 lbs of rocks in a flat rate box for $8.95.

I used to sell stuff on ebay, but I have gotten away from it. Good thing, since it cost so much to ship now. Have sold some stuff on the local craigslist instead.
