My nerves are shot.....
I had a rough day. Was the busiest day of the year at work, I came home after 6 pm completely exhausted.. only to have my 2 yr old NOT 10 MINUTES LATER, fall of his little play table (which he has taken to climbing on), and knock his two front teeth loose
. I rushed him up to the ER, where we spent almost 3 hrs waiting, only to have the Dr tell me to take him to a Ped's dentist tomorrow, where they can hopefully straighten out the one tooth that is sitting crooked in the gum, and that maybe, just maybe they won't fall out.
I bawled my eyes out at this news. My poor baby.....it's been hard enough with all the evaluations we've been going through with him (he's in process of Autism testing) then this.....
It breaks my heart to see his sweet little teeth hanging and loose. UGH.
Thanks for letting me vent. I'm so thankful I have somewhere to go when I need a hug

Oh, I am so sorry you had such a terrible day. nothing is worse than seeing your little one hurting.
My youngest knocked her front teeth loose when she was three. They rooted back in and she didn't actually lose them until she was 7! There's hope yet!
Let us know how you make out with the dentist. Big hugs!

what an awful day, hope at least you got some rest and the next days will be better.
When times get like that ( super stressed ) I have learned to think:
THIS SHALL PASS...
which helps me cope a little better. Maybe it will help you too as things do pass and usually get better.
I was just thinking last night about all the awful things that happened to me in the long ago past and how it seemed so unbearable at the time, but they passed and made me a stronger person for having gone through them.
The other day I felt stress coming on and wanted to cry with complete frustration and thought:
THIS WILL PASS......... and it really did help me as I just had to go through the motions until the rough part passed.

sending a cyber hug to you.

~Been through testing with my son(who was 3 at the time) and a tooth injury. His wasn't knocked loose, though it just bled quite a bit and turned black. Nothing they can do about that anyway. I can attest to how stressful the whole testing thing was. I had my DH with me physically but he wasn't really there mentally or emotionally. It was me home all the time with ds and reading all the books and articles and talking to the doctor's and therapists and it is super overwhelming! You definately need a (((((((HUG))))))) and some time to adjust to the idea of your child having special needs. I went through all the stages of grief;
Denial (this isn't happening to me!)
Anger (why is this happening to me?)
Bargaining (I promise I'll be a better person if...)
Depression (I don't care anymore)
Acceptance (I'm ready for whatever comes).
I can now say I'm at the Acceptance stage and I'm ready to help my DS face the world as his own unique self. Post whenever you need support, there are lots of parents of special needs kids here! And hope you get lots of rest because being tired makes everything so much worse.~~Constance

((((hugs)))) I hope your little one is able to have his teeth saved. My dgd is 2 also and she had to have her 4 top front teeth removed. Hopefully the dentist will be able to help your son.

Thank you all for you kind words and support

I took him into the dentist this morning and the news was fairly good: the super-crooked tooth has moved back down a bit, and the other wasnt as wiggly/loose as the ER doc said. The dentist said for me to wait a week or two, and see if there are any changes or he has pain or swelling- then they would have to extract the tooth. I'm so sqeamish that I couldn't watch him examining him- I get the heebies when I see loose teeth. Poor baby cried when the dentist rubbed his gums- I imagine it's pretty sensitive.
I gotta say tho, my nerves are STILL shot tho....it's a full time job keeping the kiddo safe.
The whole testing for Autism thing is a very slow process too: it's been 6 months on the waitlist already, and we are still waiting to have the final evaluation with the psychologist and OT. He doesn't qualify for the services funding until after the eval, so time is ticking slowly. Some days I am not so sure I can handle all this on my own. Taking it one day at a time.
Anywho, thanks again all for your support. Any time I feel overwhelmed, I come here and read, and always feel so much better.
