I slipped on the ice and hurt myself!!!!
I slipped on the ice Friday night and hurt my foot and ankle pretty bad... It's bruised and swollen... I've been icing like crazy and have it propped up, but I HATE sitting still...I'm going batty!!!!
I can't even put a shoe on it!!!
I really thought it would get better as it didn't seem super-bad initially. No luck, though...
I do office temp work and the no shoe/crutches situation just doesn't fly for that...so I'm just plain out of commission.
Understandable...but, frustrating... Can't exactly stand at a copy machine, run paperwork around a building, etc. like this...
I'm trying to "use my time wisely" to do a math review as I'm starting back to college summer semester...but I hate sitting home, alone, not even able to clean my kitchen!!!! Can I cry now?
Thanks for letting me vent...Kace - married to Dh 12 years

Thanks ladies!! I needed a pick-me-up...
I think I'll go for the "tried and true" healing process of internally applying chocolate to the wound.
That works, doesn't it??
I'm thinking 1-2 chocolate bars per day for proper healing/repair??? (It was worth a try).
Time to ice again...

Get well soon! Take care of yourself. It really stinks sitting there thinking of all things you could be doing. I would use the time to read, knit, or make other crafts.

I know this sounds corny and weird but if the swelling isnt down yet u should take a potatoe , peel it, and grate it and put it into a damp face cloth and wrap it around your ankle. Usualy as soon as the swelling happens , we use this method and it works!!!
Its been passed on from generations of French acadians here. try it. I've seen many people who went over there ankle and the next day walking like it didnt happen or hardly any pain. what evers in the potatoes it takes away the swelling.
Do this at least 3 times till the potaote turns almost black. wash in between .

I sympathize. I'm 2 days behind you - and stuck temporarily with a wheel chair! AAARGH!!! At least I can hobble, but apparently I sprained my ankle very badly - on the church steps - looking up at someone who said "Good morning!" - Gee, don't I know how to live dangerously? I hope yours heals quickly. The Ice-&-Elevate method seems to be working pretty well for me - though I also put Arnica salve on it (good for bruising and pain but cannot be put on open wounds).

Ouch! I hope both of you girls heal quickly. I had a bad sprained ankle one time and it was horrid not being able to get around. I'm praying for you both and yep, chocolate is great medicine.
Alos liked that idea about the peeled and grated potatoe. Thanks for the info on that.
