Default *whew* Just finished my frugal living talk!

It went great! I talk for about 45 minutes, and yea, there were moments where it felt kind of chopy, but then the gals started asking questions and I ran out of time!! I brought a bunch of stuff that I have gotten for free and laid it out and asked them what they all thought the things had in common. Someone said "They all cost money"? I said "Well, not for me they didn;t!" That got it rolling well. I talked about menu planning (based on what;s on sale), gave them some ideas, talked about sales shopping and stockpiling~that led into the whole 'what's a stockpile and how do I do it' thing. Someone wanted to know how far in advance I buy. Well, I got 12 free jars of peter pan peanut butter, and 18 can of canned beans the last time they were 3 for a 1.00, so however long stuff lasts at your hosue was my answer. Basically, if it's a consumeable that you use lots of, buy lots, otherwise, buy enough to last you till the next time it's on sale. That led into the question of: what is the sale cycle? I told them typically things go on deep discounts once every month or six weeks (would you agree FV?) I talked about unit pricing, going into the store with a list, but also having your eyes open for unadvertsed specials. I cover walgreens, and touched on Target. I gave out handouts, and I praised the village!!
Thanks for your prayers, once I started, I stopped being nervous...IT WAS EVEN FUN!

ps - there were about 35 gals there, and prob. 7 or 8 had a REAL interest, I'll be talking more with them, I'm sure!

    oh yea.......THEY VIDEO TAPED IT!!!*ugh*

Kudos to you!!! In my area some sales happen every two weeks, but the majority are monthly or in some cases bi-annual (like the canned good sales). I always stockup when something I use a lot goes on sale!!!
