weve been engaged since a couple months after we got back together. on april 5th or around there were going to have a party (to announce our engagement) here with his parents, brothers and my mom (if they arent working that day). after today we are going to really watch our money, with the substituting of the stone and overnight express it came to around $710. we havent set a date yet b/c were trying to find out if we can have a wedding thats not in a courthouse or a church since we arent religous.

Thats very pretty and dainty looking. You may not know this but in the victorian era it was common to have a colored stone for an engagement ring... it was the style to have a colored stone, even for the wealthy.
My husband and I went and bought bands from a pawn shop for about 100 for both...
he didnt say his was too big feeling until we paid for it and left and had to have it sized and it cost more to size the ring ( it was 2 tone) than both rings cost !!!
where I live the justice of the peace will do house calls or go to any location you want, it costs about 75 dollars more... so ask.Last edited by M55FF; 03-14-2008 at 09:54 AM.

Beautiful Karone.
Does his mom and dad or yours have a nice back yard?
You can usually get a judge to do it
there or even a minister.
Then you can have your reception there also.
A nice wedding doesn't have to cost a fortune.

thanks for the info. after i watched a epi of degrassi and did a wiki search for the legend behind the claddagh ring i knew that that would be a good wedding ring for us since we started as friends in high school, got together then and broke up then got back together last yr. our wedding bands are going to be these: http://www.claddaghrings.com/Merchan...tegory_Code=CW
we will get those later though.

Congratulations!!! The ring is very pretty and I am sure you are excited!!! If you don't want a church or court house wedding, you could always have an outdoor wedding...my daughter was married outside the 1st time around. Perhaps whomever would do the ceremony at the court house would be willing to do it outside, since you don't want a religious ceremony.

Your ring is stunning. I love the idea of an outdoor wedding. You could do one inexpensively if you've got a family member or friend with a nice yard.

Congratulations
If you decide not to have an outdoor wedding, consider a community center. They usually are pretty cheap (I'm talking 25-35 - at least around here) Also, magistrates are able to perform marriages.

Congrats! the ring is very pretty. i like rings that aren't solitaires. The engagement ring I have has a diamond in the middle, sapphires on each side of that, and then 3 small diamonds on each side of the sapphires. My wedding ring has a bunch of little diamonds. http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/i...rent=027-2.jpg
I could have had any color with the diamonds, but the sapphires are just too pretty. We bought both at a local jeweler who does his own designs and paid $1600 for both. Not too bad, considering that some of the other rings I liked were more than that and they have a layaway program so we didn't put it on credit card.
