Default Some people have way too much money!!!

I am not even sure I would wear this... even if I could afford it! Seriously... I'd be scared to death I would lose it!!!!

I often dream about what I'd do if I hit the lottery... buying this watch is -not- on my list...

most people who wear stuff like that aren't rich but pretending to be... people who are actually rich avoid wearing things to attract attention to themselves.
You won't see Bill Gates wearing showy stuff like that, not even his wife.

so what would you do if you won the lotto?
    say 10 million?
you know half would be gone after taxes, so your left with 5 million, whats your plan?

I would buy a large tract of land somewhere in WV that had natural gas rights still attached ( aka free natural gas ).

I would build my "dream house" basement, half basement, and 2 stories wrap around porches on 2 upper stories.

Mud room, laundry, room play room in the half basement. Cool storage for canned goods in the basement as well as a "theater" room with a pop corn machine ( hey i like to watch movies on big screen projector Tv's but the problem is it has to be totally dark). First Floor over sized kitchen with nice stove, double oven, fridge, freezer ( with a seating area like the Osbornes had.. thought that was totally awsome ).. country pantry with a sink and canning prep area with storage for canning jars ect.... nice heavy duty cookware and cast iron *G*.. nice size living room .. dinning room with a nice big dinning table to share meals. An open office off the kitchen where all the computer faces the kitchen so you can tell what the kiddos are up to. 2nd floor...bedrooms... ours sound proofed so we can be as loud and crazy as we want *eg*

And it would have to have a Dolly up through the house going from the canned goods in the basement to the laundry room to the pantry to the upstairs hall.... as well as a laundry shoot down to the laundry room from the kitchen and upstairs hall way.

Then fenced in areas with shelters for goats, black angus cattle. Rabbit hutches. Chicken house that can be moved around so they can be ranged. A Huge Garden to can from. A green house to start plants early and keep having nice fresh tomatoes through winter. Fruit & Nut trees, bushes, vines, and plants.

A play yard with a nice sturdy swingset for the kids. Something that will grow with them.

Dh and I have thought about this for fun. We'd pay off our debt and that of our brothers and sisters, put money away for living expenses and then give away ALOT. I hope we'd stick to that plan but who knows.

If I won the lotto for 10 mill, meaning I would have 5 left after taxes...

I would manage my own money... and depending on the specifics of the market would invest about 500,000- 1 mill
    of the money.

With the rest I would use it for travel and fun money, maybe redecorate with new furnishings, build a treehouse in my yard....
invest anything not being used at the time, pay for things with interest when possible.

This would be tough at this time as my husband is so close to retirement and a good pension, health insurance package that I doubt he would leave his job until he gets that...
    not even for 5 million.

After he retired now that would be a different story, we would first of all move back to the northeast where we both come from, into a nice house that we like and we would use the money to travel... all kinds of travel from being sunbirds to seeing Europe.
Last thing I would ever do is buy anything like that watch posted in this thread ! LOLOLOL!!!
wouldnt even buy a rhinestone copy of it !!!!!!!!!!

First, I would invest $1 million to guarantee a perpetual income. Then I would build a community for TBI survivors where individuals could live on their own with the proper supports in place (think apartment complex or gated community style). If there was anything left I would donate it to our local woman's shelter for start up funds for programs specifically aimed at abused men...there are a lot of them out there, but they don't get the same publicity as abused women and therefore, they don't have the same programs available to them that women do.

    Great question.
First I'd get my number changed to unlisted!!!! Then get a good financial advisor.
I would have a single floor house, with open floor plan (for Dh who has disabilities) on some land.
I would take care of family and some friends.
    I'd invest some for future.
    i'd give away a lot.
I wouldn't live differently - other than house. (REALLY!!) I'd still be frugal and shop thrift stores. I believe in being a good steward of what I have.
The house would be all I'd want.

I think I might try to start a community-living group with small units and central facilities for LOTS of things, and very clear rules about acceptable behavior - not too loud, not violent, contributing to activites, etc. I'm not really into ruling people's lives, but I think there are probably enough people who share my values that we could establish a community, and wouldn't it be fun to have great craft and shop facilities, a lap pool, workout/PT facility, movie room, music room with a dance floor, chapel for various denominations, and big light kitchen with great stuff in it?

This is my kinda subject, lol

If I won the lottery, I would move to the country (Kansas or Alabama), I would buy a house PAID FOR and pay the taxes for atleast 10 years, the house would atleast have to have 3-5 acres of land and a workshop or I could build one. I would also buy an apartment complex with atleast 4 apartments, that way I would always have some type of income.

I wouldnt go buy a fancy new car, I would just buy the house and pay the taxes and not have to work while my money collects interest in the many banks I would have it in.

I would also change my phone number because I know I would have some old friends giving me a call or family members who finally respect me because I have money. Shoot I might even have some friends I never knew I had
