I Am Just Wondering?
Last night we went to pick up DS's gf from work.
With all the prices going up on food and gas ( and this is not a slam I'm just curious ) How in The World can people still smoke cigarettes in 1/2 hour
We must have seen 20 people go in and get cigs and come back out.
I use to smoke ( quit on Dec 27 1999 ( both fiance and self )
Cigarettes then were about $3.00 a pack and we each smoked 1 to 2 packs a day.
Cheapest cigs around here I have seen are $5,00 and something a pack.
That would be $20.00 a day times 365 = $7,300.00 a year
That would pay out mortgage off in 5 years...To be One With The Universe In Spirit, Mind and Body

I wonder this too. I have a niece (my Godchild also) and her BF who hardly can afford to clothe their two children, and they smoke and stop all the time for fast food and for coffee at Starbucks-type places.
I bought her a coffee pot for a Christmas a couple of years ago, and I don't think they use it at all. I thought it would save them stopping for coffee, but no. Oh well.
They ARE good parents though, and put the kids first except for this kind of thing. I have a notion my sister (her mother) helps them out more than she lets on. I guess I would too rather than see my grandkids do without.
She also says they smoke in a ventilated room away from the children. So that's good.

I smoke, use coupons and switch from 2 brands to get more coupons...
they come to about 2.50 a pack
and I dont smoke very much... about 5-10 smokes a day, sometimes less.
I like smoking, tried to quit before and the chantix made me sick, so I just cut back, way back...

Why did you smoke, when you smoked and how did you afford it? People who smoke, do so because it's something they enjoy doing and will continue to do no matter how much cigarettes cost.
I splurge every now & then and buy name brand cigs, but for the last few years I have rolled my own. Cut the cost by more than half!!! I quit for over 2 years once, but I don't think I'll quit again anytime in the near future."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

Cig prices are outrageous. I was forced to quit because other things need to be paid first.

OK good question.
I had lost my dad 1984 and mom 1985 . I hadn't smoked in 8 years before that. ( when I was a kid and we all thought we looked cool ). I sat crying my eyes out one day and I went to the store and bought some. ( Nerves and loneliness I guess )
My fiance was getting divorced and his grandmother was real bad.
When we got together.
Then we bought this place and with the bills and bringing up my DS we looked at our priorities and decided we needed to quit. So on my birthday we threw the what was left in the packs in the wood stove and haven't had one since. To be One With The Universe In Spirit, Mind and Body

My dh smokes which upsets me. He uses coupons which come in the mail and he also saves cigarette points and sends for $15 off a carton coupons. He sent for two last month and two this month. He's been saving points for years. Each week he travels to Virginia from Pennsylvania for his job as a truck driver. Cigarettes are a lot cheaper in Virginia, so he buys his cigarettes there. So I guess he is frugally killing himself.
