Over for another year...
Well dinner is done, the kids & grandkids have gone home and I am stuffed!!! It never ceases to amaze me how much time I can spend cooking and it's gone :surprise: just like that! I always make enough so the kids can take some home, a holiday just doesn't seem like a holiday if you don't have any left overs to enjoy for a midnight snack!
I hope all of you had a wonderful day!"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

I know, I had a 'laid back' holiday meal. I cooked 2 homemade chocolate pies (my dmom's recipe), a honey crust, spiral cut ham (precooked) a salad and butter beans. I spent all afternoon in the kitchen! It was yummy but still.......I started out thinking this is gonna be quick and easy....

Sounds like you had a wonderful day. My grandchildren and children are far away so I have to make do with a phone call. I do have fond memories of cooking for a crowd though, and that lovely feeling you get when they are all on their way home, the dishes are washed and you can finally put your feet up. Sounds like a lovely day! Mary

It amazes me too. I think each year, 'Next year we're going out to eat for Easter' then it comes around and I can't bring myself to actually do it.
We like the leftovers way too much! LOL

this was my first year that my kids weren't here, ones on vacation, the other had to work, but she did drop in to pick up the plates I had for her and her spouse to have when he gets home from work. They were appreciated, but I sure missed them all here. Hopefully next year we'll all be together. Think tonight hubby and I will have some of that left over ham with eggs or pancakes. Breakfast for dinner, sounds like a plan!
