Really new
Hi - first time here. Learning some great ways to budget and save for my daughter and I. Anyone have any frugal ways to entertain a 10 y.o. daughter?

My 9 yr old dd enjoys going out and playing catch with her dad just as much as our son does. Time at the park, rent movies from the library. While at the library get some good books, classic literature that you can read together. My 14 year old daughter finds her way to cuddle time when mom is reading out loud. I have been reading books slightly above their level for years. This works to their advantage for school, my 14 yr old is one of the few that isn't struggling to understand Shakespear in school right now. Your dd might like "The Little Princess" or the Secret Garden". Find a charity that you can donate your time together at, with 2 of my kids we work with an animal shelter, we tend to the cats that up for adoption being housed at a local pet store, and we attend dog adoptions on weekends to hold the leashes for the dogs and talk to potential families about the dogs. With kids any kind of a craft is a big hit. I think it is home depot, but maybe Lowes does too, and Michael's craft store, on Saturdays they usually have a kids craft/ construction thing, pretty sure the price is less then $10. At her age anything you let her do in the kitchen is always fun, most libraries have cookbooks geared towards kids.

Hi and
I remember I loved it when my dad spent time with me and my sister. We played frisbee in the park, catch, basketball (we had the ball and played with the hoops on the school playground), tennis (inexpensive rackets and we used the school tennis court), flew kites, skipped rocks at the lake. I also loved when my dad read us bedtime stories, my mom usually read to us at night, so when my dad did it felt like a treat.

Single Dad!
Have a good look around Frugal Village. I'm
sure you will find some info on entertaining
your daughter." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
