Default How Will I Know If I Caught A Mouse??

Stupid city girl here in the country. We saw a mouse near my dishwasher so mom went and bought one of those DeCon spring loaded traps. The mouse we believe is in there but we never heard a snap. Now we hear all this scratching, but are too chicken to look to see if he's in there.

Does anyone know, could he be um scrambling around...... and trapped. Oh Gee I hate this! I'm too chicken to deal with him, but too squeemish to think of what the heck I am trying to do to the little thing.

Do you always hear those springs snap? Or no?

ROFL--I'm sorry, but this sounds like something I would post. I, too, would be too chicken to look. At the risk of sounding like a wuss--when does your dh get home?

hehe... I won;t touch them,.. I make dh. you will hear it as long as you are in the room or near the room. I would hear ours go off in the kitchen from the livingroom. Sometimes it doesn't do very nice things to the mouse... YUCK!!! Just make sure you put it somewhere you can't see all the time and let dh deal with it tomorrow. we need to put some more traps down... we have them again also. saw a litttle bugger run across my livingroom floor last night.. scared me half to death.

get some rubber gloves, ad a plastic bag, drop the trap and all in the bag, deposit in trash and don't even look. Then you won't hear the scratching, which will gross you out for sure what with the ideas our minds will come up with. Just get the trap and all in a plastic bag and get him outside. ROFL, i am so skeeved out by them I'd make sure the gloves could go in the garbage as well. Then I'd go wash my hands in hot water and soap for awhile, lol.

Well, we didn't catch him. The sucker ran right out! We've still got it set up and he's just tormenting me with all his scratching. I really am freaked out by this. What an incredible wuss I know. Not only that but I just had surgery Friday, so it's not like I can be chasing a critter around. Heck, I can't even bend over to pick up the trap (which may not be such a bad thing)!

    You need a cat!

My youngest cat caught 2 a few weeks ago. He brings it out into the middle of the room and the dogs gather around to determine WHO gets to carry it around in their mouth when the deed is done. I come home to find them all looking at it in wonder and amazement. I'm jsut glad I'm not around when it gets caught.

Shades of being up at our cabin in the woods, LOL! I used to be skeeved out by mice but it is second nature now. We caught 22 last year up there. I do a LOT of scrubbing the floors and washing rugs. Ugh. And countertops and....

    Anywho....good catch!

If you have one in a trap and it hasn't passed yet, put it in a container (like a Rubbermaid-type shoe container) and put it in the freezer overnight (or longer). It is considered a humane way to kill sick or injured animals.
