Default May I have a little vent here?? Please?

Actually the day started off not too badly.
The sun was shining (I was almost in shock since it has been quite a long time coming), the birds were singing and all was good with the world.

I don't know what you call this kind of house in the US but our neighbor's family and our family each have our house under 1 roof, side by side.
Anyhow our neighbors are having their floor taken out today. Their entire floor has to be drilled out. (It isn't by choice but because of under-floor heating damage.)
Since 7.30 this morning - so more than 5 hours ago - there has been a drill going constantly in their floor and because of the fact that we are side by side and connected, I can hear EVERYTHING!!!! (Sorry for shouting!)

To make matters worse I have just discovered that the cooked chicken (leftovers from yesterday) that I had planned to make into a super dinner this evening with loads of stir fried veggies (bits and pieces in the fridge) and rice has been almost completely eaten by one of my sons (yeah mom but I was hungry, said the bottomless pit).
Now I have to think of something else for dinner but how can I think with this NOISE!!!!!????

    OK vent over!!
    Thank you for listening.

Oh I can feel your frustration! Noisy neighbor noises that early can really ruin a day.

Are you talking about a duplex? Many years ago, my brother and I owned one.

A lot of houses in our neighborhood are duplexes (unfortunately, most of them are not kept up as they should be--that is changing as people come back in and buy them and reconvert them to single-family homes). Ours is a single family home, but the house next door and behind us are duplexes. The owner of the property next door has tried to keep it up more than most, but the stinking tenants keep parking in the front yard, making it look like well, dirt (they have parking in the back, but they don't use it). The one behind us is pretty run down, but the owner has been making improvements here and there.

Sorry, I went off on my own rant...

Ah, Dutchie that's awful. Did they warn you the work would be going on today?

Perhaps you can go pick up some earplugs? Maybe turn some music up really loud? Or, maybe you can decide it's a nice day for eating in the park and take a picnic to escape the noise.

    Hope your day gets better!

I totally know how you feel, gosh I am sorry you have to deal with noisy neighbors, that's 1 of the reasons I cant wait to move. The only thing I can suggest is turn on your stereo to a nice but comfortable "loudness", it might tune out the noise coming from the neighbors.

I know what that's like. There's always some type
of construction going on in our area. Hopefully it
will be just for today and it's over with. Can you go
out for a while to get a break?

Bottomless pick teen huh? Been there. They can
eat constantly. I'm sure you'll think up something
super for dinner. Don't we always.

I can relate, we have had noise problems on & off and there isn't much we can do about it. What we do is take a trip to the local library or do some errands just to get away from the noise, even if for a little while. Brings back some sanity to the day. Hope their project is a quick one.

That;s no fun. We have friends that have thier green cards now, but are from Amsterdam. They called their home simply "attached". It is exactly like yours.
ps - what did you end up deciding on for dinner?

((((Dutchie)))) Noise on any level can be irritating and bottomless pits helping themselves to what you were planning on making for dinner can be just as irritating...hope you were able to come up with something...for dinner I mean.

Sounds to me like you deserve a dinner out tonight-- away from the noise and the empty fridge!

I can 'feel your pain' and empathize from when we had our own new flooring put in....I thought I'd climb the walls from the noise (no drilling just use of a nail gun to put the new wood floors in) and my poor poodle....she did have a nervous breakdown and hasn't been the same since. Maybe you should just get outside and get some fresh air.....feed the family a sandwich for dinner...... (feed the hungry boy 2.....)
