Does anyone regularly shop at Trader Joe's?
The closest store is 90 miles away from us but I am wondering if it would be worth the drive every 6 weeks or so to stock up on the organic products we use.
If you shop there would you possibly know the approx price for these items? Do you find TJ's less expensive than the small health section in the grocery?
Gluten free brown rice bread (we pay 5)
whole milk plain organic yogurt (we pay 4)
organic butter (we pay 6 a lb)
Stevia (we pay 14 for an ounce)
heavy cream (we pay $3 for the small one)
Whole milk cottage cheese
string cheese
natural peanut butterLast edited by nodmicks; 04-09-2008 at 10:04 AM.

I am not sure if it's worth anything but I recently went to TJ's and was surprised that the prices there were not bad at all.
90 miles is quite a haul.

i shop there once a week or every other week and i love it and the prices are good
if you are already nearby its good to stop in but i wouldnt drive 90 miles
also they change the stock often so not everything is there everytime
i just went yesterday before this post and will likely go next week if you are still wondering i can price some things for youReba

I shop once a week at TJ's and find their prices to be very reasonable. I agree with the others though......not sure that it would be worth the 90 mile drive. I will say that I would make that drive once just to see for myself!!

I only know a few of our prices here:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (32oz) 6.99
Extra Lg. Brown Eggs (1dz) 2.39
Noodles (1pd) .79 to 1.19
TJ Tea's (24pk) 1.19
Various spices 1.49
These are just what I can remember haven't made my trip lately.

I love TJ's too, miss it so much! BUT, I would never drive 90 miles to get there with gas as expensive as it is. I honestly don't think you will save enough to recoup the cost. My sister is doing an email campaign to get Trader Joe's out here!! Maybe you should try that to get one closer.

If you could that would be terrific!

We have free water park tickets in the same city and Como Zoo (my fav!) is also there so we could definitely make a day out of it.
I think if the price was halved on the freezable items we buy (most of it) it might be worth spending the 20 on gas to buy 6 months worth. Really depends though.
Dh is up in the twin cities a lot with his semi so if there is a place to park it he could go.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

I guess another reason I'm considering even remotely is we have 1 place to buy organics and their prices are terrible. Sadly gluten free rice bread etc are a part of our lives because I absolutely haven't found a recipe that isn't awful.
