I am "only" 46, but I once was asked if I was my husband's MOTHER. He is ten years younger than me, but has more gray hair than I do. Talk about humiliating.

When I was 22 and starting my first teaching job, I looked 16. I had always looked young, but then it was a liability. Well, today, I turned 59. And I don't look 16 anymore!

I love senior discounts; it's saved me some money over the years. And I love growing older. Every year is an exciting new adventure. So just enjoy it and move on!

I have the opposite problem I get asked if my mom is home or if people can talk to my parents. My answer is I am the mom/parent what can I do for you? This is from people that are younger then I am so I just chalk it up to bad judgement on their part.

I had a day off home sick once and someone called asked to speak to my mother and asked me why I wasn't at school today in a baby voice

LOL When I was substitute teaching at this one highschool. I was 35 at the time. I wanted to go into the lunch room to speak to my classroom helper for the day and the male teachers guarding the door wouldn't let me in! They wanted to see my hall pass. I had left my Guest Teacher Badge in the classroom. I had a fun time trying to convince them that I wasn't a student but they eventually believed me.

The same year I was at a Junior Highscool and teh Librarian thought I was 14 but the minute I opened my mouth she realized that I was and adult!

Now that I've hit the big 40 I still have a problem with people thinking i'm much younger than I actually am. What can I say I'm short and everyone in my family looks young for their age. Guess I just come from a young looking gene pool!

My sister, who is 9 years older than me, claims to get carded all the time. Me...never!!!
Funny thing is, when we work together at her store, many of the customers will ask me how I like working for my Mom. They've even said it in front of her...I almost died of embarrassment for her! Honestly, she's 54 and really doesn't look like she could be my Mom. Can't these idiots see my wrinkles and age spots?? All it takes is one look at my hands....they definitely show my age.
It is, however, a great ego booster for me!!! lol

I was at a thrift store the other day and the young female clerk leaned in and said "I know you're no where [I]near[I] old enough but I'm going to give you the senior discount anyway *wink*. I said, THANK YOU! she thought I meant for the discount but I was thanking her for saying that I'm no where near old enough (I'm 48)....I'm certain she knew I was close or she wouldn't have said anything or given me the discount

Ma'am makes you old? I don't know what else to call people. Other people will get insulted at "Miss". I guess you can't win that one.

That is almost as bad as being asked when you are due and you are not pregnant.

I remember once when I was in my 30's getting carded. I got so excited and started looking for my license, the clerk said never mind it's obvious your old enough. I certainly don't have that problem now!

    Talking

Once I was house looking with my niece (she was 23, and I was 34), and the realator was shocked that I was her AUNT. My sis in law was with us,(she was 27 and much closer in age to our niece), and the lady thought that SHE was older than me... I could not help but laugh. I was also very happy to hear someone think I was younger than I was.

When I was 23, people thought I was 16, but unforunately it all caught up with me and now I'm generally thought of as my age, 45. I haven't been asked about a senior discount yet.
