Life in St. Paul, MN Part 2
Last night Dave went out around 8pm to trade a friend some fishing stuff he had here for a shotgun.
He got home around 9:30ish... pulled up in front of the house and proceeded to get the gun ready to carry in and pick up his cigarrettes and such. He noticed 2 black men walking towards the Jeep... so he hit the power door locks. Well, the back door on the drivers side sticks sometimes and doesn't lock.
Anyways the guys stood by his door telling him they were selling some TVs. Dave kept telling them no thanks but they wouldn't leave... they said if Dave would just give them a ride up the street they could show him the TVs.
At this point one guy walked to the passenger side of the Jeep and the other guy towards the back door and opened it and tried to get in! Dave put it in gear and spun outta there fast. They planned to car jack him and take my Jeep.
Dave is ok... he drove around the block a few times then took the gun out of the case and carried it in with him in plain sight so anyone watching would see he had a gun.
What scares me is this... When I get home I park and grab my diaper bag and get out, no messing around. They could have knocked me down and took the keys and took off with the jeep... and Tyler.
I will NOT go anywhere in the dark here. I never have, but now I definately won't.
So... when Dave gets back home from hunting today around 11:00 we are going to go buy wood to build the rooms at his parents. That was the last straw.

The rooms will be built today or tomorrow... then we can move and worry about paint and prettying them up later.

I don't mind my inlaws at all... but I am the type that needs to be alone alot. I don't like to be around so many people all of the time.
I will spend alot of time in our room watching TV or on here. Or out and about.

What part of town are you in now and were are the in-laws?
I am a suburbs girl all my life (in MN) and I just started locking my door a few mo. ago. (DH has been working nights)
Must be a "big city" thing.
Good luck

Oh Sherry, my heart goes out to you! I agree- you have to get out of there and fast! The outcome could have been a lot worse. I can't imagine living like that- we still leave our doors unlocked here!

Kim- We live in St. Paul and the inlaws are in Minneapolis. Both are right in the city. We lived with them when I first came here and then also right across the street for awhile and never had problems like this. THis is just a bad neighborhood. Recently the arrested over 60 people for Drug and Gang charges just a few blocks away.
I grew up in small town PA where we left our doors unlocked. Patchworkgirl.
This is not the life I want for Tyler.

Sherry, just be careful. I still think we should kick my neighbors out and you could come live across from me.
hope everything gets done so you can be moved soon.
